Squanto, also known as Tisquantum, was a Native American member of the Patuxet tribe who played a crucial role in early American history. He is best known for helping the Pilgrims at Plymouth Colony in the early 1620s by teaching them essential agricultural techniques and serving as a liaison between the Pilgrims and Native American tribes. Squanto had previously been captured and taken to England, where he learned English, which facilitated his communication with the settlers. His assistance was vital to the survival of the Pilgrims during their initial years in the New World.
