Countries seldom come on the market. When 'bought' they are paid for in things other than money.

It really depends on what you are buying. Maybe just the land at so much an acre. Or maybe the whole economy. Would the rights to the 'profit' go to the person who bought it? Would he be buying the debts as well? And the people who live there? Would he have the right to make the laws, being as he now owned the land? Would the army be his to do what he wanted with? There's no end of questions that need answering before a price can be put on it.
