most of the areas in pasadena are dangerous and are gang turf owned , north east is a good place next to serra madre
I strongly disagree. There are poorer areas of Pasadena e.g. near Lincoln Ave north of the 210 Fwy, but Old Town, California/Lake/Del Mar etc etc are beautiful areas. Lived here all my life. There are nice stores even in N. Pasadena and Altadena. Check out the area around Cal Tech and you'll see what I mean.
