Standard interior door widths are normally in 2" increments starting at 24" and continuing to 36".

Rough framing or opening sizes are 2" wider than the door itself. This allows room for the door, jambs and clearance to adjust.

However, keep in mind that the wider doors will allow for more movement between rooms should anyone become disabled as well as making it easier to move furniture in and out.

The current code minimum door width clear opening for accessibility is 30 inches, most people use a 36 inch door in home construction if there is a resident with a wheelchair.
