Let's face it, people usually visit L.A. for the weather and the water. Why stay indoors if you don't have to? Although there are plenty of fun things to do indoors, There are so many things to do outside around the lovely City of Angels.

Beaches, beaches, beaches. At risk of sounding like your mom, please make sure you take the proper precautions regarding the sun and your skin, for yourselves as well as your children. (You know what they are.) Burns will happen quicker here without noticing, because the weather is so comfortably dry. Los Angeles has some beautiful and interesting beaches, which are available for your enjoyment all year-round. You can walk or jog in the sand when the weather is cooler, and still enjoy the sunsets and sunrises. L.A. has 75 miles of coastline to explore. There are Cabrillo, Dan Blocker, Malibu, Topanga, Santa Monica, Manhattan, Hermosa, Venice, and Redondo beaches among others. Don't forget that fun at the beaches is easy on the budget too.

• Griffith Park-The largest city park in the U.S., Griffith park has plenty of spaces for picnicking, biking, free trails for hiking, and peaceful spots like Fern Dell with its waterfalls and ferns to enjoy.
• Grauman's Chinese Theatre-Where famous footprints in wet cement started in the 1920's and blockbuster movies had their premieres, you can see the footprints of Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Harrison Ford, and many others. Whose footprints do your feet fit?
• Hollywood Walk of Fame-Follow the over 2,300 stars built into the sidewalks of Hollywood Boulevard to find your favorites, like Steven Spielberg at 7046, Charlize Theron at 6801, and Johnny Depp at 7018.
• Marina del Rey-Watch some of the 6,000 private yachts go out for a spin, or roller-skate, bike, or relax in Burton Chase Park nearby. Beach here also.
• Pacific Park-Advertised as L.A.'s 'only admission-free amusement park', the rides, games, and food are not free. Still, it's located on the Santa Monica Pier surrounded by water, and stunning when all lit up at night.
• Madame Tussaudes-Famous wax figures, opening in the summer 2009.

Theme parks.

• Disneyland-It's all here, so plan well. Thrills, chills, and water rides, pirates, shows, games, parades, eats, and fireworks. And souvenirs. Lots of souvenirs. Disneyland helps. They even have a vacation-planning DVD you can order online.
• Knotts Berry Farm-Take yourselves and the kids to 'Camp Snoopy', check out the Ghost Town, or cool off at Wild Water Wilderness. Shopping is a must here for food, gift items, and unique PEANUTS collectibles.
• Universal Studios-The latest movie simulations and rides, plus some of the old nostalgic ones. Watch how the stunt guys do it. If you love movies, this is for you.
• Six Flags Magic Mountain-Looney Tunes cartoon character rides, some movie rides, huge coasters and water rides. Food and games. Kid's shows and parades.

Nightlife.

• Laugh Factory-For a riotously funny evening, this comedy club features the newest standup comedians.
