What should be done for a colt with diarrhea?
Depends on the root cause and whether the condition is chronic (long standing) or acute and the age of the colt. Very young foals generally go through periods of diarrhea at about the same time as the mare is in foal heat. This is a normal consequence of the gastrointestinal tract "learning how to function". Stools will be loose and pasty at this time and a good covering of petroleum jelly or anhydrous lanolin on the baby's rump will prevent scalding. Scalding can result in temporary hair loss.
Changes in feed can result in diarrhea that will resolve itself as the colt adjusts to
the new feed and the caretaker will have to evaluate if the rate of change is too rapid and be willing to slow the transition.
Chronic diarrhea can be caused by stress (often a symptom of ulcers) and a large percentage of foals have them. There are, of course, many other causes including parasite infestations, inflammation of the intestinal tract, etc. that should involve your veterinarian.
If the colt is otherwise bright and eating an experienced horseperson (who observes the colt) may be able to walk you through some simple treatments for mild to moderate diarrhea. Whatever decision is made realize that a lay person must be very cautious, diligent, observant while treating any animal. It is extremely important to know when you are out of your depth so that your colt can get the treatment it needs.
If the diarrhea is liquid, bloody, black, mucusy, accompanied by colic symptoms or smells abnormal the owner should contact a veterinarian immediately. Young horses have very few reserves and even an acute bout of liquid diarrhea can result in death due to dehydration.
This post is by no means comprehensive. Only individuals observing the colt directly will be truly able to assess it's status.

If you are experiencing the runs from your drinking, you are -- by definition -- drinking far too much. It does not happen to "social" drinkers. Drink less alcohol. Alcohol-induced diarrhea is caused by the body's rejection of the alcohol, which it recognizes as a poison, and because of the irritation caused to the inside of the digestive tract. Some people are more susceptible to that than others. If you are one of them, consider it one more good reason not to drink.
