What colors are in this country's flag and what do they represent?

The question is actually ambiguous since it doesn't specify WHICH country is meant by "this" country. Since a large fraction of the users on this web site are from the US and tend to be "Americentric" I'll go ahead and answer it for the US.

The colors of the US flag are red, white, and blue. Despite much folklore to the contrary, the colors were not chosen to represent anything in particular. They were chosen because they were the same colors as those used in the British Union Jack Flag. Remember that the Americans of the Colonial period considered themselves British. The blue in the Union Jack came from the blue of the Saint Andrew's cross of the Scottish flag, which supposedly came from the legend of a white cross appearing in the sky (blue) prior to a battle between army of Picts and Scots against the Angles in 832 A.D. The red in the British flag came from two sources. The first was the St. George's cross which derived from the colors assigned by the Pope to soldiers of different nationalities during the crusades. Interestingly, the red-on-white cross was originally assigned to the French, but appropriated by the crusaders in general and wound up the symbol of England. This was the vertical and horizontal red cross of the Union Flag. The diagonal red cross came from the St. Patrick's cross flag of Ireland. The flag was first designed by British authorities in Dublin Castle in the 17th century as a counterpart to St. George's Cross. The white parts of the flag are dictated by the conventions of heraldry that require separation of different colors by a band of a different "metal". White is acceptable as the separating color.

So, indirectly, the blue of the flag represents a Scottish sky before a battle more than 1000 years ago, the red was a choice by a Pope, and the white was dictated by custom - but only for the Union Jack. A lot of great inspirational stories have been crafted to assign special meanings to the colors, but the fact remains that the colors were just chosen because the earliest US flags were modifications of the Union Jack and just used the same colors, not because the designers of the flag assigned any particular meaning to the colors. Any stories claiming the colors were chosen for special reasons are wonderful folklore, but nothing more.
