Ford Motor Company has had ONE stock split in the past 10 years. Tootsie Roll (symbol TR) has had 9 stock splits in 10 years. There MAY be other companies with more, but TR is high on the list if not topping it.

However, TR has had 10 stock splits since 2000, they are extremely smalls splits. They are splits of 103 shares to 100, which is basically a 3% yearly stock dividend. Basically if you owned 100 shares of TR in 2000 you would own 130 shares today. MSFT is the king of the splits and has split 9 times, however if you owned 100 shares of MSFT in 1986 you would own 28800 shares today. It would have cost you approximately $2,500 and would be worth approximately $800,000 today. Not to mention you would collect quarterly dividends that would add up to $25,000 a year.

It has more of a human psychology involved rather than any other business situation. But yes, sometimes it does relate to the way business is going ahead. But company has nothing to do with its shares market prize. Share are basically a toy of some people who want to play with fortunes and money. One person makes other a fool. Company has nothing to do with its (share) market prize. If the company closes, the person holding the share will not get market prize for the share. Company will just pay the face value of share. This is what makes people sell the shares they own at whatever prize the share has currently, else they will end up getting just the face value by the company.

They cannot - at least not to the public. To sell stock to the public they would first have register their corporation with the state in which it is going to be incorporated. Only then could they offer shares for sale thus making them a (non-privately owned) PUBLIC company.

"Private" companies CAN issue stock in themselves to the members of the inner circle of owners or family designating who "owns" what share of the company, but they cannot sell stock to the general public, that is why they are "private."

Not that I know of, but Phillip Morris is in a price range to split. That would be determined by the Board of Directors at the next, or next quarterly meeting and by how many outstanding shares the company has out.

So, there may be relationship between a person and a company or more precisely a director and a company; there is nothing to do "How that money will be utilized by that director." The most important question to the lender will be whether he/she get back the money or not, what to be done with that money is not a primary query for the lender.

But company law of a country may or may not accept that.
