There are several strategies for maintaining an economy and preparing an army. - Keep making villagers non-stop until the Castle age. They should be getting gold and food so you can make an army. I usually don't stop until I have at least 30 villagers.

- With all of the Age of Empire games, villagers should be built in very high numbers. More often than not, a giant incessant army will defeat a smaller tactical army, and to support that kind of mass troop building, you'll need anywhere from thirty to forty-five villagers.

I don't think you can choose Allies/Enemy like you did back in AOE2.
But you can assign 'Players' to 'Teams'.

You have to go to options and then go to graphic options and click on the windowed mode. If it is lighted up it means it will be minimized. If it is minimized it means you can do anything you can usually do on your computer, but if for example you open safari it will pause the game. If it is not lit up it will be full screen and you wont be able to do anything else but aoe3. The graphics are better in full screen though. Hope this helps!

Obtaining gold and stone is the same as Age of Empires 2 without the expansion. You will have to mine it from gold or stone patches with a villager and have that villager place the stone or gold into a Mining Camp or the Town Center.
Also, you can cheat for stone and gold by typing 'rock on' or 'robin hood'

It appears not. From my computer, it ran for about 1 hour before crashing. All the troubleshooting I did was fruitless. I get a Age of Empires has stopped working message. It says it is caused from an APPCRASH.
