Nothing can be said to be the opposite of a chipmunk in terms of the creature. For the music group, the Chipmunks, you could say the Chippettes.

Brittany and the Chipettes are a fictitious anthropomorphic group of singing chipmunks that originated as a female counterpoint to Alvin, Simon and Theodore of "Alvin and the Chimpmunks" fame for some of the novelty recordings that were produced as if the Chipmunks were a real musical group. The were created because the creators of the Chipmunks wanted to do some "girl" tunes and obviously Alvin and his brothers are male. Eventually they crossed over to the cartoons in 1983 and later were promoted to essentially equal billing. Like the Chipmunks they are voiced by normal humans (albeit female humans as opposed to the guys who do Alvin, Simon and Theodore) with their voices altered by speeding up the recording a bit to raise the pitch and give it that "chipmunk" sound. They do not exist outside of the recording studio where those effects are possible so you won't be seeing them on tour any time soon.

Theodore, Simon and Alvin , the TV chipmunks, were take-offs on (gender change here) Veronica, Estel, and Nedra, look, one to one correpsondence. also Dave Seville was a take off on Phil Spector. Jab Jab Jab, do the San Quentin! ( he"s in the Big House now)

It"s a bit like say, comparing Marilyn Monroe ( deceased) with the Rose of Fair Italy- posthumous productions ( posters, etc) Monroe was only active between the late forties and l962 , whereas Gina has been out and operational from l947 (Aquila Nera- opr Black hawk-not about Indians!)- to the present and has various ancillary activities such as photography and art. It is entirely probable that Gina has surpassed the ( most covers) total set by Jayne Mansfield in the early sixties- stretched out over time. What has this to do with the chipmunks- they were out earlier than the Chipettes and have built up momentum and also a seasonal ( Chipmunks Chrismas song) following. oddly they were ( it is almost beyond argument) a take-off on the Ronettes- as are the Chipettes. The Ronettes are Ronnie ( Veronica), Nedra, and Estelle, halo over Estelle please- we lost her last year in 2009.

Yes Ian Hawke will appear in Alvin & The Chipmunks 4 in 2015 just like Ian Hawke did in 3 films of Alvin & The Chipmunks.

Simon is the smart one out of the 3 and he is the oldest the middle chipmunk is Alvin even though he takes charge in everything else and lastly Theodore is the youngest and sweetest of the three.

In " Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel " the Chipettes are voiced by Christina Applegate as Brittany , Anna Faris as Jeanette and Amy Poehler as Eleanor .
