First she went around the world and she also crossed the Atlantic when she was 31 years and she even built a roller coaster when she was only 8 years old

Amy Otis Earhart. It should be noted that (Amy) is the nickname for Amelia. Somewhat curiously she died on Halloween of l963. It is not known if she was related to the Elevator manufacturer. (Different sort of Lift!)

Amelia Earhart died on July, 2, 1937 over the Pacific ocean. She was born in 1897. It would have been wonderful to have her on hand for World War 2 as Charles Lindbergh was available for consultation with the new planes used in the Pacific Theater. I would imagine she would have welcomed a position helping the women to learn to fly when the women were trained to fly small planes and the big planes. I have to admit she is one of my heroines because of her bravery to do more than a difficult task of flying around the world.

The title fits, but was not popular. Lady Lindy and of course, Amy, which is a standard nickname for Amelia, were used. it is probable, as with Anastasia, there were less laudatory cognomens.

After she married George Putnam, her job was to set new aviation records, and give lectures.

She befitted our lives by showing that women can do anything boys can do. For example, she played tennis when in the early days she couldn't.

Amelia Earhart owned several aircraft. First a Kinner Airster bi-plane "The Canary" which she bought before she even completed her flight training at Kinner field with Neta Snook. Next an Avro Avian Bi-plane then a Lockheed Vega 5b monoplane. She set records in the Avian and a borrowed (from the company) Pitcairn PC-2 Autogyro, she also did a lot of promo flying for them in a Beech-Nut marked PC-2. The aircraft she was lost in (Lockheed Electra 10L) was actually owned by Purdue University. There are plenty of pictures available on the net, just type in the a/c type and add Earhart. I know she flew at least 2 other types of aircraft, not sure what they were.

Amelia was almost 40 when she died.

Her sister, Muriel, was her best friend. Her father was an alcoholic. At first supporting the family by working for a rail road company, he later was divorced his wife, after never truly being accepted by her parents. Amelia lived with her Grandmother, who did not accept the tomboy attitude of Amelia and her sister Muriel, because of her son's and daughter-in-law's death, as well as the poor mental state of her husband. Amelia always remained in touch with her mother and sister, and always had a close relationship with them.
