Yes McDonalds accepts all credit cardsNO, not true at all. I've found McDonald's doesn't accept American Express credit card, which is interesting considering AMEX is having a promo right now to promote McDonald's and use your AMEX there. Very Misleading!

Edit from statement above: I just got back from mcdonalds where I live and they told me they accept amex. I think it depends on the franchise, whether or not they support amex or not. All credit cards? No they do not take JCB, Maestro, etc. just the bigger brand names.

Where is American Express accepted?

They are accepted at most major places. Not all local places will take Amex because of it's high transaction fee. However, if you shop at Wal Mart, Raleys Grocery Store, or any company that's "large", then they will usually take Amex. Smaller locations rarely accept the card such as local restaurants, non-major gas stations, non-chain mechanics, corner shops/convenience stores and the like.

Amex is not accepted in nearly as many places as Visa, MasterCard, or Discover cards.

Do many businesses not accept American Express because of their fee structure?

Yes Because American Express charges a higher interchange rate than the other card networks. For example American Express Charges 3.5% for all restaurant transactions. The lowest rate for this in Visa would be 1.19%, with the Highest being 2.4%

While American Express charges may be higher, the dispute resolution process is a significant deterrent for merchants. If a card holder files a dispute on a transaction, the merchant must endure a resolution process that is stacked against them. American Express requires the merchant to check their account everyday to respond to customer disputes (they will not notify you). If you do not respond in the short amount of time allotted, you lose the dispute (and the money associated with it).

In sum, AMEX has higher fees, longer wait times for funds, horribly unfriendly policies, and an unfair dispute resolution process that almost never goes in favor of the merchant.

Usually 720 is good enough for that or just about any offer. In general you won't get better deals whether you have 720, 760 or 800. But Amex will look at other things besides your score. They'll look at the actual report, and how much income you receive.

Probate laws vary widely, it would be beneficial to obtain legal counsel.
