As I understand it, only law enforcment personnel are authorized to carry weapons loaded with hollow point ammunition. The same for New Jersey and probably other states.

I know of no law that says you can't buy or have hollow point bullets as a non enforcement person. But, as said, non lawenforcement personnel cannot carry a weapon loaded with hollow point bullets.

Gun stores sell hollow point ammo. Therefore, you can buy hollow point ammo to shoot on a range. If hollow point ammo was illegal gun stores could not sell it.......

Hollow point ammo is illegal only in New Jersey, and even then, only illegal for certain applications (mainly, weapons carried outside your home). Hollow point ammo is legal in all other states.

I believe the range for a 40gr. CCI is just over 7600 feet, or about 1.5 miles Accuracy diminishes after 200 yards with standard velocity 22. long rifle ammunition.

Grain is a measurement of weight. There are 7000 grains to 1 pound. Bullets can weigh from as little at around 20 grains to over 750 grains.

Grain is also used as a measure of weight for gun powders.

Read your manual, or request a free catalog from Marlin. Factory load is always what they recommend.

"Bullets" do not "go off". A bullet is the metal projectile that comes out of the barrel of a firearm. The term you are looking for is cartridge. Since there is no safe way to fire a cartridge without it being in the correct firearm, I am not going to answer your question- in THAT direction lies pain and injury. I would appreciate it if other contributors would NOT explain how to hurt yourself badly.

Depends on the Local Laws of the place or Country you live in. Like: at some stores (like Walmart, Kmart...) you can buy guns and ammo, and some you can't, because of Local "ordinances". (community Laws.) Some Hunting stores are treated the same way. They can sell "sports/outdoor equipment" but not weapons and ammo.

Take it to a gunsmith.

It depends on several factors, but if fired up at an angle, about a mile is a fair average.

30/30 is incorrect. The long cartridge is a .45/70 government round. If you look close at a picture you will see it is the came diameter as the other cartridges which are .45 long colt. It was used in a number of weapons including the Springfield Trapdoor rifle.

Size and relative power. A .40 caliber bullet is .40 of an inch and the entire cartridge is 28.8 millimeters long. A .50 caliber (handgun) bullet is .50 of an inch and the entire cartridge is 40.99 millimeters long. The .50 caliber has more powder, more velocity, and more muzzle energy.

They are lethal but the bullets don't kill, the people who fire them do.
