What are 4 different badminton strokes?

Smash- the killer shot that is extremely had to block. It is difficult because you have to aim downwards and hit it at high speeds.

Clear- used to send you opponet to the back od the court, it isuseful because you may need time to recover and prepare for the next shot. This has a downside as it can set them up for a smash.

Drop shot- this is used when you are at the back of the court and you gently hit it so that it just goes over the net. This is a sneaky shot because they will think you are about to clear it and it involves them practically running into the net.

The net shot- this is when you are at the net and you either use backhand or forehand to tap it over the net. This is hard to return because you need to run forward and then hit it.

How high do you hang a badminton net?

Step 1Mark off a rectangle 44 feet long by 17 feet wide using chalk. This court size is designed for the two-person game. A doubles court is 44 by 20 feet. Step 2Start at the end of one of the 44-foot lines and measure 22 feet. Place a mark on this spot. This is exactly half of the court. Repeat the process on the other long line. Step 3Lay a pole at each mark. Place the pole parallel to the long line. Both poles should face the same direction. For instance, if you lay the first pole so the top faces the right, lay the second pole the same way. Step 4Stretch the net across the court horizontally, so one end of the net sits next to each pole. Step 5Tie the net onto the poles using the rings on the poles as guides. Each pole should have two rings on the inside edge of the pole, one to attach the top of the net and one to attach the bottom. Take the tie strings on the bottom of the net and attach them through the bottom rings on the poles. Slide the strings into the rings and tie them off with a secure knot. Repeat this process with the top strings and rings. Step 6Press the poles into the ground on the half-court markers. Push firmly until the top edge of the net is approximately 5 feet 1 inch from the ground. Step 7Secure a rope to the top ring on the outside of a pole. Tie off the end of the rope to a stake. Pull the stake so the rope is at a 45-degree angle from the pole and pull it to the side. Secure the stake into the ground. The stake provides extra stability for the pole. Repeat this process on the other pole. Tips and WarningsIf you are setting up a permanent court, you may wish to secure the poles by pouring cement into the holes in the ground. Things You'll Need

Did badminton originate in Greece or in India?

BADMINTON was a form of sport played in ancient Greece and Egypt. Badminton came from a child's game called battledore and shuttlecock, in which two players hit a feathered shuttlecock back and forth with tiny rackets. The game was called "POONA" in India during the 18th Century, and British Army Officers stationed there took the Indian version back to England in the 1860's. The army men introduced the game to friends, but the new sport was definitely launched there at a party given in 1873 by the Duke of Beaufort at his country place, "Badminton" in Gloucestershire. During that time, the game had no name, but it was referred to as "The Game of Badminton," and, thereupon, Badminton became its official name.

Until 1887 the sport was played in England under the rules that prevailed in India. They were, from the English viewpoint, somewhat contradictory and confusing. Since a small army of badminton players had been recruited, a group formed itself into the Bath Badminton Club, standardized the rules, and made the game applicable to English ideas and the basic regulations; drawn up in 1887, still guide the sport. In 1895, the Badminton Association (of England) was formed to take over the authority of the Bath Badminton Club, and the new group made rules, which now govern the game throughout the world.
