More Americans today are educated, and in college, you get to go to school with people from other races, religions, and belief systems. Meeting "the other" often diminishes your fear or your prejudice towards those who are different. Also, it should be noted that about 40% of white people voted for Mr. Obama in the 2012 election. Yes, a large majority of white voters, especially in the south, voted for Mitt Romney, but white voters in other parts of the country voted for Mr. Obama, as did large numbers of the previously mentioned Asian-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and yes, African-Americans.

So, did a "racist country" elect Barack Obama? I am not sure that the entire country remains racist.
