In most cases, the division winner with the best overall season record plays the wildcard team and the other two division winners play each other. But, in the case where the wildcard team and the division winner with the best overall record come from the same division, the division winner with the second overall best record plays the wildcard team and the division winner with the best overall record plays the division winner with the third best overall record. Confusing? Kinda, and kinda not really fair either, but MLB does not want two teams from the same division playing each other in the first round of the playoffs.

The value of baseball cards as with any other collectible is dictated by supply, and demand. The lower the number of items available on the market with the highest demand will have a higher value. Older baseball cards are fewer in number than today's baseball cards, and in general have a higher value. There are modern cards that have high value, that are available in high numbers but, the demand for those cards is greater than the number avalible. As time passes if collectors lose interest in these cards because of the large numbers printed the value will drop big time. The older cards in less number in time will have a better chance of holding their value longer.

The value of any card is determined by its popularity which is in turn determined by the popularity of the player...note that popularity and player performance are not always tied together. You can see this phenomenon with Bob Welch cards. he won a Cy Young award and some key world series games...but he was always in the shadow of other pictures..Fernando Valenzuela...Orel Hershiser. his rookie card in mint condition might go for around 20 bucks. most of his other cards will likely go for under two dollars...maybe more if you sell them in Southern Cal.

Other key factors include type of ball (is it an "Official American League" ball?), whether there are any "clubhouse signatures" (autographs signed for players by ballboys, attendants, etc), and total number of signatures present. The authenticity of the Gehrig signature is of particular importance, as he used "ghost-signers" extensively.

Yankees memorabilia is always highly collected and these factors, plus the authenticity of the all the significant signatures are the main variables in determining value.

I was wondering the same thing and thought it would be worth around $250...after about an hour of research the best price I found to sell it for was $50. Made me want to vomit. So I decided to wait and keep looking. The Emmitt Smith Rookie card is worth $50 itself.

The most preferred baseball to have a player sign would be an Official Major League baseball from the League the player played in, that was used during the ball players playing days. The older baseballs could be dated by the signature of the League President stamped on the ball.
