This is a tricky question, but I believe I know the answer. The Bering Strait is between the Pacific Ocean (salt water) and the Arctic Ocean (salt water). Sea ice also is present farther up north in the Arctic Ocean. So, due to logical deduction, I would make an educate guess that the Bering Strait is saltwater.

The primary danger present in the Bering Sea is the cold water temperature. The average water temp is in the 35-45 degrees Fahrenheit range in the summer, and below 32 degrees over the winter. At the warmer temperatures, a human falling into the water unprotected will survive 30-90 minutes, at the cooler temps, less than 15 minutes. As the core temperature drops, extremities start numbing.
