Upon the Blue Ridge Mountains,
there I take my stand.
A rifle on my shoulder,
six shooter in my hand.
I've been all around this world.
The Blue Ridge Mountains run from Georgia to Virginia and West Virginia. Some people consider the northern parts to extend into Pennsylvania and Maryland.
Collisions Of Continental Plates
I live about 20 miles from Skyline Drive in Port Republic, Va. and one week ago I spotted a Bald Eaglein an Alfalfa feed beside my house. I know it was an eagle because there had been buzzards feeding on 2 dead foxes in the feild. When I looked out there was a large bird with a white head, bright yellow beak and white tail feathers feeding on the carcasses.
At first, the Blue Ridge Mountains delayed westward expansion. Treaties with Native Americans forbid White Settlers from crossing the mountains. But explorers, including a survey trip by George Washington, began to open the way for settlers to migrate.
temperate climate plants
The Blue Mountains of New South Wales gained their name Blue Mountains as a result of the blue haze that covers them when seen from a distance (especially in hot weather).
The extensive Eucalyptus bushland of the Blue Mountains give off eucalyptus oil from their leaves. Some of this merges with the atmosphere to form a distinctive blue haze. This blue haze is far less evident nowadays, due to the extensive building developments that have seen deforestation of the mountains.

"The blue ridge mountains are named for the color that the mountain range turns in the early morning. There is a country song that mentions these mountains as well called ""Country Roads"""
