**Chapter 4:Lungwort has called an emergency family meeting because he has done calculations about the family's growth rate and come to the conclusion that if the family does note separate their great numbers will lead to food shortages, disease, and death. Family needs to organize a move to New House, needs to ask Mr. Ocax's permission (no one seems eager to do so). Poppy comes in to the meeting late, Lungwort wants to know where Ragweed is. At end of meeting Poppy tells Lungwort, Sweet Cicely and Basil about Ragweed's death and her own narrow escape. Lungwort instructs Poppy to tell her family members about Ragweed's death as a lesson to remind them they must ask Mr. Ocax's permission for movement. He also informs Poppy that she will join him in meeting with Mr. Ocax to ask him for permission to move to New House.

As they march off to meet Mr. Ocax at his watching tree (night, starts to rain) Mr. Ocax calls "whoo whoo," Lungwort says he is joking, Poppy thinks he is trying to scare them. Poppy realizes that her father is scared; she tries to ignore it because she is very frightened herself. They walk down far road, cross the bridge and see Mr. Ocax on his dead oak, with "his head feathers erect making him look like the devil," "sitting on a branch that looks like a claw."

**Chapter 6:Lungwort introduces Poppy and Mr. Ocax of course remembers who she is and makes reference to their previous meeting. Lungwort tries to read his speech but the rain has soaked it. He pleads his case to Mr. Ocax but his pleas fall on deaf ears. Poppy recognizes uncertainty in Mr. Ocax's voice and Mr. Ocax wants to know if they have been to "New House" yet. After responding that they hadn't Mr. Ocax says "NO!" to the move giving his explanation as merely the fact that Poppy hadn't followed his rules. Mr. Ocax also manages to slip in that he's recently encountered a new, "particularly vicious" porcupine near Dimwood. Poppy and Lungwort trudge home in the rain.

**Chapter 7:Lungwort cries on the way home. Poppy and Lungwort arrive back at Gray House without hardly speaking a word, a crowd awaits, they start to cheer, then stop. Lungwort went straight to his boot study, Sweet Cicely followed him. The other mice crowded around Poppy rapidly asking questions, Poppy explained. Hearing no sympathy from her family, Poppy excused herself. Basil led her to a room to dry off and get something to eat. Poppy has Ragweed's earring which she found in Mr. Ocax's pellets. Poppy goes to attic to her "room," a log cabin syrup canister. She is exhausted, states to think about the night's events, she realizes she won't be able to discover the real reason Mr. Ocax refused the move unless she goes to New House.

**Chapter 8:Lungwort would not leave his boo office, seemed to be sick, curled up in front of boot, muttering about the family being doomed and if only Poppy and Ragweed had asked permission to go to Banock Hill, blaming everyone but Mr. Ocax and refusing to consider the possibility that he is to blame for it all. Poppy begins to leave, Lungwort says "look out for porcupines." Poppy consults a map and decides to go through Dimwood forest to New House, she tells only Basil (who offers to go too) about leaves the very next day at highest sun.

Poppy reveals that she too wants to be a ballroom dancer. Poppy puts a pair of lady's slippers (a flower) on her feet and dances around then remembers Sweet Cicely's words, "The only live mouse is an alert mouse." She continues on until the creek, she must cross it, the only way is can find is to jump from stone to stone, she falls in, calls for help, Mr. Ocax hears, she gets out finally and Mr. Ocax believes the mouse that was calling for help must be dead. Poppy drags herself up the bank of the creek only to realize she is right near Mr. Ocax's tree.

**Chapter 10:Dimwood Forest (pg. 83 description). Poppy heard noises, she had no idea what was making them. Mr. Ocax was watching New House; something living in the barn was making him mad. Ereth scares the fox away with some harsh words and a smack of the quills on his tail. Poppy thinks she will be tortured and tries to escape through the other side of the log but can't.

**Chapter 12: The truth comes out, Mr. Ocax has been lying about porcupines and is actually afraid of Ereth himself. Poppy finds out porcupines don't even eat meat. Ereth loves salt, there is a large salt lick at New House. Ereth may be old and cranky but he's not a killer, he enjoys going where he's not supposed to, he advises Poppy to do the same. Poppy asks to take a nap.

**Chapter 13: Poppy wakes up, she is hungry, she goes to the entrance of the log and sees Ocax and retreats. When Ereth returns from his night-time feast Poppy expresses concern about Ocax. Ereth speaks with Ocax, asks about lies he's been telling mice, he sees Poppy wearing Ragweed's earring and is really mad, threatens Poppy. Poppy is upset with Ereth, tells Ereth he must come with her to New House, Ereth refuses, Poppy tells Ereth if he goes, she will get him the salt lick, Ereth agrees. Ocax hears the whole conversation and is determined to stop them so follows them.

**Chapter 14: Poppy follows Ereth through the forest, Ocax tries to attack, Ereth saves Poppy. They reach the dirt road, the corn field, the salt lick, (Poppy has no idea how she will get it for Ereth). They see New House and the Barn, on Barn is an owl twice the size of Ocax.

**Chapter 15: Ereth leaves Poppy with the belief that she will find a way to get the salt lick. Poppy finds one of Ereth's discarded quills, belts it to herself like a sword and sits down on the edge of the cornfield to try to make sense of the situation. Is the large owl the reason Ocax doesn't want the Deer mouse family to move to New House?

**Chapter 16: Poppy watches New House as an old cat, "George," and a boy came out of New House. Boy went into Barn, opened door next to owl and moved owl. Poppy realizes that the owl is fake, she ponders Mr. Ocax and his motivations for refusing to allow the move to New House, she realizes that Mr. Ocax is afraid of many things. Poppy talks to George to make sure the owl is a fake and hears a story about Ocax snatching a chicken, owner of New House getting the fake owl and Ocax returning only to be scared off by the fake owl.

**Chapter 17: Poppy woke up from a nap, ate and decided it was time to go home. She spotted Ocax in a tree, watching barn. Poppy calls to him from her hiding spot in the corn. Poppy teases Ocax, Ocax wants to talk, says Poppy is a smart mouse, coaxes Poppy out of her hiding spot and when she comes out plunges down at her from behind.

**Chapter 18: The battle, Ocax and Poppy battled, just when they both thought it was over (Ocax's talons coming towards Poppy), Poppy stuck the porcupine quill through Ocax's talon, Ocax freaked, flew off with Poppy still clutching the quill, Ocax couldn't fly right, trying to get the quill out. Ocax crashes into the salt lick, Poppy falls into the grass, Ocax is dead.

**Chapter 19: Poppy took one of Ocax's feathers and started for home, she stopped at Ereth's to rest and tell him about the fight (or at least try to), Ereth ran off to collect the salt. When Poppy woke Ereth was polishing off the last of the salt, Poppy said goodbye and said she would come back to visit and struck off for home getting there just in time to hear her father giving a speech about breaking up the family, going their separate ways, etc. Poppy announced that Mr. Ocax was dead and the New House was going to be a great new home.

**Chapter 20: Poppy, her husband and their babies (11 of them) listened to Poppy give a speech about the tree that had started to grow and how she liked to think it had grown from the seed Ragweed had been about to eat when he was killed. What is the summary for Hetty Feather the book?

The official summary of which Jacquline Wilson wrote is- "Hetty Feather is just a tiny baby when her desperate mother leaves her at the Foundling Hospital. The hospital cares for many such children - but Hetty must first live with a foster family until she is big enough to go to school.

Hetty is poor but happy living in the countryside with her 'brothers', Jem and Gideon. She helps in the fields and plays vivid imaginary games. The children sneak off to visit the travelling circus and Hetty is mesmerized by the show, especially Madame Adeline and her performing horses.

But Hetty's happiness is threatened once more when she is returned to the Foundling Hospital. The new ultra-strict regime is a struggle for her. But on the day of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee, Hetty gets the chance to see Madame Adeline again - and maybe find her real mother..."
