you need to check the weight of the thread. south maid normally comes in 10, 20, and 30 with 30 being the thinnest. i know dmc pearl cotton comes in at least 3 and 5 which are thicker. I'm not sure if it comes in 10. there is dmc thread that does come in size 10. if you are not worried about gauge, then don't worry about it
