Yes, even if he warned his son about the tragedy that may happen if he ignored his advice, Icarus is still his son and his conscience will say that in the first place he must never create wings so that his son will not die.

Daedalus was not considered as a god but a hero.He was an engineer,when Midas's wife messed with a bull, resulting in the Minotaur, he built the labrynth to hold the minotaur by keeping it confused.He also made wings for himself and his son Icarus out of wax.

Daedalus had tried to hurt an innocent boy at the temple, this is why Athene withdrew her favor.

The lesson wasn't about flying. Icarus isn't dead because he flew. He died because he didn't listen to his father's advice. So, the story is about the dangers of hubris, and the need to heed those who know more than you, particularly your parents.

King Minos wants daedalus' knowledge. and also, daedalus let theseus(a demigod) kill king minos' minotaur(Half-bullman) and surpass the maze of the labyrinth. and kill eventually kill the daughter of minos(theseus did that). and also daedalus was the inventor of the labyrinth. and he is the one who can navigate it perfectly.the maze was designed to fool you. but not him.

Daedalus was shut up in a tower by King Minos of Crete because he had helped Theseus escape the Labyrinth, which Daedalus had designed to contain the Minotaur. Minos sought to punish Daedalus for his betrayal and to prevent him from revealing the secrets of the Labyrinth. The tower served as both imprisonment and a means to keep Daedalus from aiding anyone else in their escape. Ultimately, this confinement led Daedalus to invent a plan for escape by creating wings for himself and his son Icarus.

Because Minos, Daedalus and Icarus are mythological people, no dates are ever given. However, Minos was the last King of Crete that was dominant over Mycenaean Era Athens, which means that Crete began to diminish in power during his rule. Historically, it was during the 15th century BC that the Minoan civilization began to wane after a series of natural disasters, leading up to a Mycenaean Greek invasion around 1420BC. So it could be assumed that the story took place some time before that, but not long.

Last Names, or Surnames, weren't common until the Middle Ages, and even then, they were used predominantly to identify either lineage (father to son or father to daughter) or professions (i.e. Shoemaker, Thatcher, Smith, etc).

Daedalus would not have had a Surname. Most people in Ancient Greece would simply have been known by a name. Only people of importance would need to be known by their lineage, such as "Daedalus, son of Palamaon", or by their city of residence "Daedalus of Athens/Crete". People of great renown might even have an epithet, such as how Apollo had the epithets "Phoebus" and "Pythos".
