The Girl haunts the Bus terminal daily, and ( won"t leave until the last man"s gotten off) Int he original there is no hint that the runaway boyfriend is a bus driver, who, like a Ship Captain, would be the last man to get off the vehicle when tied up- at the bus terminal.( practically he keeps an eye on departing passengers as well) The song implies that the girl has gotten pregnant and the Guy has taken off- for parts unknown. It is almost cheery compared to some songs dealing with similar subject matter ( Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves) includes a statutory rape! ( Papa would have shot him if he knew what he"d done! Stop and think, kids listen to this stuff and learn all the lyrics. it"s just not right!
