Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR)

DLSR stands for Digital Single Lens Reflex or Digital SLR and are more complex than your everyday point and shoot digital camera. DSLRs take more quality pictures than regular cameras and have more options and features that you use, such as the number of pictures you can take in a small amount of time and the different lenses you can use. Also these cameras have more manual settings that you can change resulting in the ability to take different photographs.

If you want to use a different lens on your Olympus camera you will have to use something to mount it with. You will not get the same results from different lenses.

How does a DSLR camera work?

Like a film camera, a camcorder "sees" the world through lenses. In a film camera, the lenses serve to focus the light from a scene onto film treated with chemicals that have a controlled reaction to light. In this way, camera film records the scene in front of it: It picks up greater amounts of light from brighter parts of the scene, and lower amounts of light from darker parts of the scene. The lens in a camcorder also serves to focus light, but instead of focusing it onto film, it shines the light onto a small semiconductor image sensor. This sensor, a charge-coupled device (CCD), measures light with a half-inch (about 1 cm) panel of 300,000 to 500,000 tiny light-sensitive diodes calledphotosites.

Each photosite measures the amount of light (photons) that hits a particular point, and translates this information into electrons (electrical charges): A brighter image is represented by a higher electrical charge, and a darker image is represented by a lower electrical charge. Just as an artist sketches a scene by contrasting dark areas with light areas, a CCD creates a video picture by recording light intensity. During playback, this information directs the intensity of a television's electron beam as it passes over the screen.

Does any dslr use minolta autofocus lens?

Yes, the SONY ALPHA series of DSLRs have the MINOLTA mount. When Sony took over the Minolta business line, they continued the proprietary MINOLTA lens mount and the Minolta flash shoe, which are unique- that is, ONLY A MINOLTA OR SONY LENS OR FLASH WILL FIT A SONY ALPHA camera.

There might be some drawbacks, however. Depending on the focal length, year of production, number of electronic contacts, and type of Minolta AF lens (check the number of gold contacts on the side of the lens that goes into the camera), some of the lenses that have more that five (5) contacts might not work perfectly with the SONY Alpha camera. This is because most of the MINOLTA lenses with 7 or more contacts are POWER ZOOMS- that is, they zoom in and out if you twist the lens grip/ body under power from the camera. SONY has NOT continued this technology, and so the POWER ZOOM MINOLTA LENS will definitely not zoom in and out if mounted on a SONY ALPHA camera body.

In its final years of production before the SONY takeover, MINOLTA made so many lenses with so many technological features (such as the POWER ZOOM) built into the lenses themselves.

But don't worry...the best thing about having good old MINOLTA AF lenses is that they WILL fit a SONY ALPHA DLSR body. It's up to you to play with the combination of lenses and camera bodies to see what ANTIQUE (Minolta lens) you can still use with a SUPER NEW (Sony Alpha) camera. That's where most of the fun of photography is.

When i was taking pictures on my dslr with a sandisk 16gb sd card it only let me take a couple before it said memory full what can you do?

Thats odd- 16gb is plenty of room for all low and most higher end DSLR camera even shooting 'RAW' photos (no compression). For example, with a Canon 5D mrkII (over 20mp camera) I can take 400+ photos with highest quality settings before the card is full. Try importing all photos from the memory card onto your computer and then re format the 16gb card via your camera, this might solve the problem. If that doesn't work bring the card back where your brought it and exchange the card.

What does it mean when a camera DSLR has 3 frames per second?

It means that the camera can take 3 photographs/pictures per second. So this is very useful for taking photos of a moving object/person/animal ESP if they are running for example. Then being a digital camera one can pick the images they like best on a computer without the cost of printing them all.

What is the difference between a superzoom and a dslr?

The term hyperzoom or superzoom is used to advertise photographic zoom lenses with unconventionally large focal length factors, typically more than 4× and ranging up to 15×, e.g., 35 mm to 350 mm. The largest ratio for digital SLR cameras is held by the Tamron 18-270 mm, giving 15×. Some compact digital cameras have even larger zoom ratios up to 35×. For movie and television use, Panavision holds the record with their 300X HD Lens

Is the Canon PowerShot sx30 a dslr?

First Anwser: No, because there is no removable lens on the SX30 it is not classified as a D-SLR.a

Finay Balfour: Actually, a few Bridge cameras have removable lenses, but that doesn't make it as DSLR. DSLR stands for "Digital Single Lens Reflex", which means that it has a mirror which bounces the view from the lens to the viewfinder, and locks up when you want to take the picture, and that makes the clonking sound widely related to DSLR cameras.

So, to conclude, no, the powershot is not a DSLR, because it does not have a Single Lens Reflex mirror lock up system.

Will a 9 megapixel compact camera and a 9 megapixel dslr give the same image quality?

well it depends what you mean on image quality. If you were to crop the picture a lot, or make it very large, the quality would be the same, but as for actual composition, a dslr may be better because there are more manual settings, usually the lenses are better than compact cameras and various other reasons.

What model of AE-1 SLR lens compatible at any digital SLR?

The Canon AE-1 SLR camera uses the FD lens mount, which is not directly compatible with modern digital SLRs that typically use the EF or EF-S lens mounts. However, you can use FD lenses on some digital SLRs with an appropriate adapter, but this often results in a loss of autofocus and automatic aperture control. Additionally, compatibility may vary depending on the specific DSLR model and the quality of the adapter used. It's important to check individual specifications before attempting to use FD lenses on a digital camera.

What is DSLR photography?

Digital single-lens reflex photography (DSLR) is the mid- to high-end portion of digital photography. Cameras are commonly classified as point and shoot, advanced point and shoot (these add super zooms, video modes, alternate white balancing schemes, and more photography modes), and DSLR. DSLR cameras normally have interchangeable lenses, some of which are compatible with older film camera lenses. DSLR cameras usually have even more white balance options, exposure controls, shooting modes, etc. DSLR cameras often have larger image sensors, which can help greatly with low-light shooting and noise reduction. DSLRs usually have a burst mode which allows them to take 3 - 10 images in very rapid succession.

Now you've done it! Time for me to go buy one. My advanced point and shoot has great image quality and a fantastic zoom, lots of modes and things. But all of these would be improved with a DSLR.

How do you make blurr on camera dslr?

dont really know what you mean... but one method is to take two exposures, one with the subject in sharp focus, another with out of focus image (same subject) and combine the two images with a mask in photoshop. another effect is to use a double exposure, and throw one out of focus. both techniques require still-life subjects and a tripod otherwise, blur is generally to be avoided in photography, but can be caused by camera or subject movement, bad focus, zooming during exposure, or having dirty filters on lenses, shooting through screen doors... etc.

For a Canon Digital SLR camera is it better on the battery to remove it from the camera when it's not being used?

Actually, yes; however, this will not make a SIGNIFICANT difference. The battery is very slowly drained all of the time that it is in the camera. Therefore, your best battery performance will be seen when the battery is removed between uses.

One must balance this benefit, however, with wearing out the battery tray. If you're constantly taking out the battery, it's bound to wear things out a bit more. Personally, I don't remove the battery for this reason.
