There is a lot of drought world wide, where in particular were you thinking.

Crops and ultimately people die in drought. Third world countries do not have adequate means to deal with drought.

Depends on the situation. Some droughts happen all of a sudden but most of the time droughts are pretty predictable. You start losing water and not being able to get as much water as you used to. Usually small towns deal with it as a whole and ration off water to each family. Large cities however deal with it differently.

The deadliest drought in recorded history was in China between 1876 and 1879. Rivers were dry, so most crops and livestock died.There was no food production in a 1-million km2 area of 9 provinces. The drought caused the death of an estimated nine millionpeople.

The supply of many economic goods, such as water, forage, food grains, fish, and hydroelectric power, depends on weather. Due to variability of climate, water supply is sufficient in some years but not satisfactory to meet human and environmental needs in other years. The demand for economic goods is increasing as a result of increasing population. Supply may also increase because of improved production efficiency and technology.

Well, other then the advice of getting the heck out of there, I would suggest going to high elevation, and try to find a mountain,tree or lake. If you find a tree (works best with oak) try scouring the land near it so that you can mabye find moss to soak up the water supply to the plant. If you find a mountain, climb to the top. There will probally be a stream, small pond or snow. If you find a lake, unless you're IQ is below zero, I think that you'll know what to do with it. If you not 100 percent sure that the water is clean or mabye has bugs or germs in it, make a fire, get a container, put the water in the container and put that to boil, after half an hour, take it off, and drain it again. It will now be clean.
