You would have to drop the fire extinguisher on its head because the carbonate and the acid are separated and one of them in a glass container at the top of the extinguisher dropping it on its head would break the glass and make the chemicals connect together and a chemical reaction would take place then the extinguisher would be ready for use. In the glass container there also would be some sort of detergent that made the extinguishing formula froffy.

My dad s a retired fire fighter and the mechanisms he used were although more olden kind, they were similar to the fire extinguisher. In a life threatening situation you must not panic and aim it in the middle up of the fire, releasing the outer burning energy and then go around it smothering the fire.
