Commercial forestry is the establishment of industrial plantations or woodlots for products such as lumber, saw logs,pulp and paper so as to maximize profits from their sale. It also involves setting up of forest based enterprises such as craft making industries, furniture making industries, pole treatment plants, pulp and paper machines among others.

The advantages of Commercial forestry include employment opportunities to people, increase of returns from forestry investment, reduction of pressure on natural forests, carbon trade (sequestration), contribute to biodiversity conservation, restoration of degraded land, increase the country's exports and so many others.
