Not especially.
Garter snakes are small and nonvenomous, so they're not particularly dangerous to humans. They do have sharp teeth, though, and if they feel threatened they may bite.

garter snakes are usually really dark green with yellowish or red stripes down its back. i am actually trying to catch one myself. you should only try to catch snakes that you are sure are safe. use gloves when catching one. the bites only bleed and keep a bite clean because their mouths aren't clean so it may get infected.

Behind its head.
- Well, I've caught different kinds of snakes out where I live, and Garter snakes seem to be the friendliest of all. Except for one time, I've never had to worry about a Garter biting me. That was only because someone made it mad. So, I've never had to hold one behind the head. Most of the time, I can just lay it over my shoulders. :]

it depends on how much time you spend with it how you feed it and how they act make some notes of your garter snake or any other snake to see what type of snake it is and according to your results you can come to your conclusion and see your snakes personality
if that's not the answer you expected then is it's the color of the snake then look at it in google images or try to find a website about your snake.

I have a snake myself and when my snake sheds it means it is ready to shed but try not to handle them and my snake doesn't eat for a few weeks before it sheds, make sure you have rough surfaces in the tank so it can rub its skin off !

None. Garter snakes dont get very big so if you put any other snake with it, the garter snake might get eaten.
Actually, nothing besides a kingsnake would eat a garter. I would say don't do it though, because of space and basking competition, and diseases.
There are many snakes that feed on other snakes not just Kingsnakes so you have to be careful on the species that you put in the same container, Indigoes, racers, cottonmouths, coral snakes, whipsnakes are some that come to mind>
