The Metro is no longer made (Stopped being produced in 2001). But when they were made they were produced by Suzuki under the direction of General Motors in Ontario Canada. Some were produced in Japan but most were made in Canada through its 12 year cycle.

Thick white smoke is caused when coolant gets into a cylinder and from there into the exhaust. It is a sign that if it is not fixed real soon, you will blow or burn up your engine.

THE TCM is located on the left side of the steering column , It is a gray metal box roughly 4"x 4" with 2 white connectors

sounds like you installed new thermostat upside down

if that's not the problem, you have wrong or faulty new thermostat

to test thermostat out of vehicle, place in pot of boiling water and watch to see if thermostat opens

just remove the water pump not the timing cover

I had this condition once.... and I thought something serious was amiss.... however, after getting home and parking the car.... was still idling near 2000 rpm. After I turned the car off and started it back up, all was fine.... haven't had that happen since... My guess is a momentary lack of concentration on the computer's part....

If it is a continuous thing... try replacing computer... or disconnect battery for 5-10 minutes, and retry...

In a stock condition with over 100,000 miles, top speed may be just under 100mph downhill... Flat and level, you can expect 90-95... with new lifters you might get 100 on level ground... other mods like performance air filter or modified computer could provide higher speeds

It should. To better check, go to local parts store and check the Haines Manual...is should be for both Geo Metro and Geo Storm, just check that is bolts up the same.

Hi, I take you along with this as I've changed mine and re-lubed the speedo end. Of course I'll ask you how you know it's the cable but I'll also take for granted you know already. The first is to put your front end up on ramps if you have them or jack the front and put it on jackstands as you need to first disconnect the cable from the transmission. This lets you bring up slack into the engine compartment, you need at least about a fot or more of slack so you can get the cable into the car when you remove the instrment panel. After you have brought the slack up to the grommet where it enters the car you should take a can of silicone spray and lightly spray the cable so when you pull the cable into the car you won't pull the grommet from its hole. Your next place is under the dash and pull some of the cable into the car. The next step is to remove the trim from around the instrument panel and the remove the screws that hold the instrument pane in place. Next as you remove the instrumen panel by pulling gently towards you you need to keep the cable from becoming too tight, just bring more of the slack into the car from below and you'll have enougf slack to replqce the cable. To remove the cable from the back of the speedo you need to just press the two tabs on the side of the plastic end and the cable will come off then pull the cable out into the engine compartment. If you remove the grommet from it's hole it's a pain to put back in place but you can get it, just be slow and careful. The new cable will snap on the speedo end. The cable has two tabs the snap over the end of the speedo end you need to make sure the end of the cable that has the small square metal end fits into the square end of the speedo, just look at the both and you'll see that they fit together easily. I also suggest you put some light grease around the end of the cable where it connects with the speedo, it helps where it spins. when you put the instrument panel back in you need to gently pull the cable ack also so as not to make a bend in the cable, just a gentle curve. If you have a problem getting the cable back behind the dash, you can remove the left speaker and reach your hand through that hole and guide the cable from there. Now all there is left is to get the cable back into the engine compartment and reattach it to the transmission, you need to notice the same kind of square cable end to go into the transmission, and be real careful not to crossthread the end as you screw it back on. I know it sounds like a lot but it really isn't, it's more like a pain with all the twisting and turning you need to do but I've done it twice and it really isn't too bad. Piston rings are always installed with the numbers up toward the top of the piston

you take the assemble out push the bulb in and turn it 1/4 turn counter clock wise and pull it out to put i back in turn it 1/4 turn clock wise
