Will home canned grape juice turn to jel after a few years?

Only if it is contaminated with something. If your grape juice has jelled, do not consume it; dispose of it.

The only thing likely to happen to grape juice is for it to turn to wine or vinegar. Typically, unless this is your intent, it was not prepared properly before canning.

Would baco noir make a good fresh grape juice?

Baco noir juice is not bad at all, it is extremely fruity although a bit harsher than you would be used to in regular grape juice, i.e. welches. Grape juice you buy in the grocery store is almost always made from labruscas, or native American varieties of grapes. These are Concord (welches), or sometimes Niagara grape variety. These are the best for juice and also more desireable than Baco, although it is bearable. Concord and Niagara grape varieties do not made very good wine, although it sometimes done. Baco Noir is best as a wine grape in a cool region rather than for grape juice.

Why do Adventists use unfermented fruit juice in the celebration of the Lords Supper?

Seventh-day Adventists shun Alcoholic Beverages, one of which is wine, or fermented fruit juice. Adventists read in The Bible, which is their guide to living, that the human body is, in a sense, a temple that should not be defiled in any way. Since alcohol is known to be injurious to the human body in a number of ways, Adventists do not partake of beverages that contain it. Incidentally, alcohol is a drug, just like heroin or cocaine, and is always classified as such.

Why can urine smell like grape juice?

Urine can smell like grape juice and other acidic, pungent odours after consuming certain foods. For alot of people, this happens after eating asparagus. One nice fact is that only 22% of the population can actually smell the odour so most people, if you're using a public restroom, won't smell it. For others, eating asparagus produces urine that smells like rotten eggs, skunks or other nasty things!

Does Welch's grape juice decrease heartburn?

I have chronic heartburn and take a daily over the counter remedy that sometimes does not work for me. I have noticed that during the initial phases of heartburn ( discomfort in the stomach) the past few occurrences have been cured by a glass of grape juice. I have no idea why as I would presume that the juice is acidic, but I cannot argue with the results. Thank you Welch's grape juice.

What does fermentation do to grape juice?

Fermentation is basically when yeast grows on the SKIN of grapes. When the skin is broken down, the yeast feeds on the glucose ( which is in the grape juice ) which turns it into ethanol ( alcohol ) BUT and the SAME time it makes carbon dioxide. This is used in wine making, so it doesn't do anything to the grape juice, but it helps make it after the ethanol is taken out and the rest is purified.

Was wine or grape juice served at the last supper?

Wine.

What Scriptures do you know about that supports this theory?

Or is it that in Jesus' day they all drank fermented grape juice/real wine?

Was this a tradition back then? Was it a custom back then to only drink wine?

Answer

Wine was drunk then because the alcohol killed any germs that were in it, and preserved it for storage. References to wine drinking are frequent in the Bible--there are, according to christinyou.net, over 256 references to wine. The Bible comes down against drunkenness--witness Proverbs 20:1 ("Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging; and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.") or Proverbs 21:17 ("He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loves wine and oil shall not be rich.").

There are 75 admonishments against drunkenness. Drinking wine is fine, but drunkenness is not.

As to the original question, Luke 22:17-20 says: "And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: for I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you."

Now, as to whether Jesus ever drank wine...check Luke 7:34--"The Son of Man is come eating and drinking, and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!" I leave you with 1 Timothy 5:21-25: "I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality. Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure. Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine other infirmities. Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after. Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid."

AnswerFruit of the vine (grape juice). During the passover they were not to eat or even have leaven in their homes. Alcohol is made out of yeast(leaven) which they were not to eat.

Matthew 26:29 (KJV) But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this FRUIT OF THE VINE, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

Mark 14:25 (KJV) Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the FRUIT OF THE VINE, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

Luke 22:18 (KJV) For I say unto you, I will not drink of the FRUIT OF THE VINE, until the kingdom of God shall come.

Also, there are many Hebrew words tranlsated into the one English word "wine". This is because Hebrew does not have the word "juice". The following is a list of the Hebrew and Greek words that are translated into the one English word wine. It is very clear if you go to the Hebrew and Greek texts to see that alcohol was forbidden. The confusion comes because all of these words were tranlated into one word in English.

That is what some people think, but the opposite is truth.

Grapes freshly harvested and smashed out produce grape juice laden with billions of tiny leaven cells. These leaven cells are alive and what causes fermentation. It is these leaven cells in a war with the sugar in the grape juice that starts the fermentation war. The by-product of this war is alcohol. As the level of alcohol rises in this war, the leaven dies and the carcasses fall to the bottom in the form of a white substance. That is why a bottle of Welch's will tell you to shake well, this puts the separated dead leaven cells back into solution and they are hidden by the color of the juice. But not so in wine. The leaven is dead and the wine is drawn off and the dregs as the white stuff is called, is thrown away. Many who take the Lord's Passover will take unleavened bread and then drink Welch's grape juice filled with dead leaven carcasses, or will take fresh grape juice laden with billions of living leaven cells. The Jews used wine for Passover and that settles this issue. They did mix this wine with one-third water and this diluted it down.
