The Heisman Trophy winner for the 1995 season was running back Eddie George of the Ohio State Buckeyes. During the season, George rushed for 24 touchdowns and a school-record 1,927 yards, an average of 152.2 yards per game. He was the sixth Ohio State product to win the Heisman.

The Downtown Athletic Club of New York City created the award and presented it first in 1935. The award, in 1935, was known as the 'DAC Trophy'. It was renamed 'Heisman Trophy' for John Heisman, the DAC's first athletic director, when Heisman passed away in 1936.

Other JC transfers have won it (OJ at USC and Mike Rozier at Nebraska come immediately to mind), but they didn't win it in their 1st year after transferring from JC. Cam Newton may well be the 1st one to win it immediately after transferring.
