Don't know where Mitch is buried but I believe he is from UK. Jimi was buried in his home town in Seatle, Washington State.

After moving to England and making the Jimi Hendrix Experience, he gained major popularity in the United States after his Hit single "Hey Joe", followed by his appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival during the Summer of Love.

I believe that Stevie Wonder has sold more records than Jimi Hendrix. While both men are extremely talented and innovative, I think more people can relate to Stevie's music than Jimi's.

Anyway my point is that the Brits had stamina in rock which was failing in the US culture. I used to go see heroin activated Ginger Baker later in Cream and the Who etc, but the Americans seemed vulnerable not just Hendrix and Janis but the overhyped Doors and the talentless Morrisson vaunted by US fans wanting to end the Brit monopoly of great rock - remember Alvin of Ten Years After? - US had no answer!! we Brits had better stamina. !! the counterculture movement was all in your brain !!

Yes, in my (and many others') opinion, Eddie Van Halen is the best guitarist in the world. People have marveled at his skill for years, and it definitely is unmatched, even by my favorite guitarist from my favorite band, Alex Lifeson of Rush.

That's chile, not child. He most definitely was using voodoo to coax the sounds he made out of the equipment he used. He was a "magic boy" who could play remembered jazz and R&B lines note for note. He was "Experienced", "not necessarily stoned, but beautiful". He burned his already on fire guitar as sacrifice to the music he loved. If that ain't voodoo, than what is? ( In the blues version it is Chile. The rockin' "Slight Return" it's Child)

It was the other way around. In the late 60's Gibbons was with a Texas band calledThe Moving Sidewalks. They put out an album, but were not know outside Texas. They did some touring as as a warm-up for Hendrix. Hendrix was a big name at that point and Gibbons was rather in awe, but managed to leave a big impression on Hendrix who declared on 'The Tonight Show' that the best guitarist in American was a fellow down in Texas no one had heard of named Billy Gibbons.

Hendrix also gave 'Reverend' Gibbons a slightly damaged 50's pink Fender Stratocaster which according to legend Gibbons used may years later to Record La Grange and several other early hits. But the pink Strat owned by two of Rock's greatest is a legend unto itself and was featured in a Guitar Player magazine back in the 85.

Hendrix owned and used a variety of guitars during his career. His guitar of choice however, and the instrument that became most associated with him, was the Fender Stratocaster. He started playing the model in 1966 and thereafter used it prevalently in his stage performances and recordings.

Hendrix bought many Stratocasters and gave some away as gifts. The original sunburst Stratocaster that Hendrix burnt at the Astoria in 1967, and that he kept as a souvenir, was given to Frank Zappa by a Hendrix roadie at the 1968 Miami Pop Festival; Zappa assumed it was the one Hendrix had played there.

Hendrix used right-handed guitars, turned upside down and restrung for left-hand playing. This had an important effect on his guitar sound: because of the slant of the Strat's bridge pickup, his lowest string had a bright sound while his highest string had a mellow sound, the opposite of the Stratocaster's intended design. Heavy use of the tremolo bar necessitated frequent tuning; Hendrix often asked the audience for a "minute to tune up", as heard on many live bootlegs of his performances.

In addition to Stratocasters, Hendrix was also photographed playing Fender Jazzmasters, Duosonics, two different Gibson Flying Vs, a Gibson Les Paul, three Gibson SGs, a Gretsch Corvette he used at the 1967 Curtis Knight sessions and miming with a right strung Fender Jaguar on the "Top Of The Pop's" TV show, as well as several other brands. Hendrix borrowed a Fender Telecaster from Noel Redding to record "Hey Joe" and "Purple Haze", used a white Gibson SG Custom for his performances on the Dick Cavett show in the summer of 1969, and the Isle of Wight film shows him playing his second Gibson Flying V. While Jimi had previously owned a Flying V that he'd painted with a psychedelic design, the Flying V used at the Isle of Wight was a unique custom left-handed guitar with gold plated hardware, a bound fingerboard and "split-diamond" fret markers that were not found on other 60s-era Flying Vs.

On December 4, 2006, one of Hendrix's 1968 Fender Stratocaster guitars with a sunburst design was sold at a Christie's auction for USD$168,000.
