Yes, the Green Mountain K cups will only work with the Keurig coffee machines. they are specially made to fit those machines and will not fit any other brand.

apparently they leak inside on the mother board of the machine causing it to DIE!! call keurig to get a replacement or take it back where you got it and they may replace it, no questions asked. this is a common defect of the machine and they won't argue it. great customer service and thanks to keurig for standing up for their products.

How to Drain Internal Tank

Tools: Phillips screwdriver, tiny sizzors, long

nose pliers, small plasitc tie-wrap

Procedure (~ 10 minutes)

1. Place cushion next to sink. Lie Keurig brewer on a it's back

with bottom facing sink.

2. Remove 5 screws from bottom plate. Swing plate out of the way,

but leave green ground-wires attached.

3. Cut tie-wrap from translucent corrugated hose and slip off of

nipple at bottom of stainless tank.

NOTE: Hose end is very tight. You may need a pliers to gently

wiggle it back & forth. Avoid nicking end sleeve that fits over the

steel nipple.

4. Sit brewer upright in sink. Swivel base plate out of the path

and allow tank to drain.

5. Replace hose over tank nipple and fasten tightly with new tie-

wrap. Blot moisture with paper towel.

6. Close bottom panel. NOTE: Slide bottom plate beneath clips along

curved plastic housing before screwing into place.

Brewer can now be stored or shipped. (It is lighter and will not

leak water during shipment).

In short, probably yes.

Since the water is stored mostly cold and heated up quickly when needed, like inexpensive drip coffee makers, the heating element probably uses an aluminum water line to transfer heat to the water.

I hope I'm wrong, but Keurig needs to quit avoiding the question and say that no aluminum comes in contact with the water if that is the case.

Just a note, although aluminum has been removed from nearly all food preparation, it is still present in at least three of the four most popular methods of making coffee. Please tell us that Keurig has corrected this oversight and does not use aluminum to heat their water. Obviously, the disposable cups have aluminum lids, like some single serving yogurts.

Typically I have found that a small brew is about 6oz, a medium brew is 8oz, and a large brew hits about 10oz. I believe each K cup is designed for a medium brew at 8oz making a small brew slightly stronger and a large one weaker. If you like a particularly light flavor, then you can use the same K-cup to brew two 6oz portions or even one 6 and one 8 to dilute the flavor.
