How did the KKK intimidate black people?
They beat whipped and gunned African Americans. They also burned cross on their lawns.
The KKK were a very hateful group who considered everyone who was not white and Catholic "impure." They killed many people who were not "pure" and separated many families. You can think of them like "American Nazis." You could argue that these people were just trying to spread their religion and their pride, but they hurt/killed many innocent people. Today, they do not pose as much of a threat and do not kill people, so they are considered legal. But I believe they are just using freedom of speech to their advantage. Freedom of speech has been stretched too far. As for "maintaining power over non-whites" they didn't. They were not trying to spread an empire of white people, they just believe that they are superior. They did frighten people and kill people, but they were never like a government. Sometimes they could control people in a way by saying if you do this I will kill you. Or sometimes, they would threaten the safety of people who were very close to the person who was doing something "wrong." Most people in the KKK had very serious mental disorders and did not understand that they were killing others. The KKK, however, obviously was not very proud of their actions because they wore masks, hats, and long flowing robes that protected their identity. If you believe so strongly in something that you would kill a person, you should not be afraid to reveal your true identity.
Who was the first member of the KKK?
Nathan Bedford Forrest, General, CSA. This rebel general is considered the founder of the Klan. Robert E.Lee did NOT found, organize, or even condone the existence of the Ku Klux Klan- though many people think he did- as the best known Confederate General. Fact is, Lee was NOt a Klansman of any stripe.
Are people from the ku klux klan still alive?
Yes but they stay hidden for the most part for fear of getting caught and arrested for killing blacks. The group is still here but they are not very active.
There is really no way to stop the KKK. Basically you can not stop racism no matter how hard you try, there will always be people who do not like someone because of race though there is nothing wrong with this due to the 1st admenmant
What does the Ku Klux Klan do in the present day?
Today the KKK still leaves threats across America. For example; a noose on a car its a warning that they are coming after you.
Yes they are. They just dress a little differently than a street gang. By day they wear everyday work cloths, at night they hide their identity in costumes.
They are not like most gangs though they were started back in the 1800's and then when WW1 was happening many German's joined them in the hate of the blacks and Jews
Why does the KKK hate everyone not like themselves?
It's called xenophobia, which, as the 'phobia' suffix suggests, is an irrational fear and hatred of something or someone. In the case of the KKK it's fear and hatred of strangers, foreigners, or - as you say - those not like themselves.
As with all phobia sufferers, xenophobics are easily frightened by anything relating to their phobia. Many organizations similar to the KKK are led by people who aren't particularly xenophobic at all, but are greedy for power and wealth; this is sometimes achieved by gathering a following which is easily led.
An added inducement for those attracted to the KKK is the 'secret society' aspect, which gives many a feeling of belonging to something special, together with the feeling of superiority which all secret organizations induce in their followers. This appeals hugely to the basic feelings of inferiority which those such as xenophobics work so hard to conceal.
One only has to read some of the claims made by such organizations to see they are carefully-worded in order to attract exactly the type of people who truly want to believe such claims and won't question too closely their veracity, or ask for hard facts and real proof.
You'll find doubters and questioners and those who expect logic and verifiable truth in the information they are given are not welcome in organizations such as the KKK.
Political differences between the north and south before the civil war?
The federalist were more from the north. They were led by Alexander Hamilton, believed wealthy and well educated should lead the nation, favored a strong central government, emphasized manufacturing, shipping, and trade, they favored a loose interpretation of the Constitution. They were also pro-British, favored a nation bank, and a protective tariff. The Democratic-Republicans were the opposite. Led by Thomas Jefferson, believed people should have political power, favored strong state government, and emphasized agriculture <----!!! Strict Interpretation of Constitution, Pro- French, opposed national bank and protective tariff. Tariff= tax on foreign goods
:)
(This information is incorrect for the question. Federalism basically began to end at the start of the War of 1812, and disappeared in 1815, during the Era of Good Feeling. This information could be counted as correct for the Revolutionary War or some other war taking place in the late 1700's or the early 1800's, but the American Civila War did not start until 1861.)
How many people was apart of the ku klux klan?
there was 2 million people in the Ku Klux Klan 50 years ago but numbers quickly dwindled
Did any anti KKK groups try killing the KKK members?
Unfortunately not many are found, because most people are caught under the mistake of thinking that the terrorists of KKK are ancient. If you want to try to make your own anti-KKK group, please feel free (at least in the USA) to protest, because it's totally legal. Let's face it, you wouldn't be reporting ordinary/innocent people, KKK is nothing but a bunch of worthless, racist, Christian terrorists that conspire out of unreasonable hatred over blacks, pagans, and communists as a whole.
the Klan was established on December 24,1864 in Pulaski, Tennessee by former confederate solders.
The leader of the KKK is known as the Grand Wizard or the Imperial Wizard. James Colescott was the last leader of the KKK, who dissolved the organization in the 1940s to satisfy a half million dollar tax lien.
David Duke was one Grand Wizard of the KKK of Louisiana, sort of a resurrected Klan group. More recently this KKK leader is known as the "National Director." There are now dozens of independent splinter groups calling themselves the Ku Klux Klan, so there is no one single leader over all.

What tactics did the KKK use as intimidation?
They would burn crosses in people's front lawns to intimidate them, they would also leave something on a person's porch..(i dont remember exactly what it was.. a bundle of something.. sticks or something i believe)
They would also terrorize people through whippings, hangings and lynchings.. (a lynching is basically being killed by a mob)
Originally, the KKK was formed as a resistance group to the Union occupation of the south and the often oppressive policies of reconstruction. The KKK did not originally form as a racist organization (though many were). They resisted the North by intimidating and occasionally lynching anyone who supported the Republican party who were decidedly anti-south. They were recognized as a racist organization because most of the republicans happened to be colored, and the description stuck with them.
Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is the name of several past and present organizations in the United States that have advocated white supremacy, antisemitism, anti-Catholicism, racism, homophobia, anti-Communism and nativism. These organizations have often used terrorism, violence, and acts of intimidation, such as cross burning and lynching, to oppress African Americans and other religious, social or ethnic groups. The Klan's first incarnation was in 1866. Founded by veterans of the Confederate Army, its main purpose was to resist Reconstruction. It focused as much on intimidating "carpetbaggers" and "scalawags" as on putting down the freed slaves. The KKK quickly adopted violent methods, but this caused a backlash as many Southern elites saw the Klan as an excuse for federal troops to continue their activities in the South. The organization declined from 1868 to 1870 and was destroyed in the early 1870s by President Ulysses S. Grant's vigorous action under the Civil Rights Act of 1871 (also known as the Ku Klux Klan Act). In 1915, a second distinct group was founded using the same name. It grew against social fears aroused by rapid changes in many major cities as they absorbed immigrants from southern and eastern Europe, Southern blacks of the Great Migration and whites from rural areas. Mass media sensationalized events that helped spark the Klan, such as the film The Birth of a Nation and inflammatory newspaper coverage of the trial, conviction and lynching of Leo Frank in Atlanta. The second KKK was a formal fraternal organization, with a national and state structure, that paid thousands of men to organize local chapters all over the country. At its peak in the mid-1920s, the organization included about 15% of the nation's eligible population, approximately 4-5 million men.[1] The second KKK typically preached racism, anti-Catholicism, anti-Communism, nativism, and anti-Semitism. Some local groups took part in lynchings and other violent activities. Violence occurred mostly in the South, which already had a tradition of lawlessness. [2]Its popularity fell during the Great Depression, and membership fell further during World War II because of scandals resulting from prominent members' crimes and its support of the Nazis. The name "Ku Klux Klan" has since been used by many independent groups. Many of them opposed the Civil Rights Movement and desegregation in the 1950s and 1960s. During that period, they often acted with impunity by alliances with Southern police departments, as during the reign of Bull Connor in Birmingham, Alabama; or even governor's offices, as with George Wallace of Alabama.[3] Several members of KKK-affiliated groups were eventually convicted of murder and manslaughter in the deaths of civil rights workers and children Alabama and Mississippi (as in the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Alabama, the assassination of NAACP organizer Medgar Evers, and the murders of three civil rights workers). Today, researchers estimate that there are as many as 150 Klan chapters with up to 8,000 members nationwide.[4] The US government classifies these groups, with operations in separated small local units, as extreme hate groups. The modern KKK has been repudiated by all mainstream media, political and religious leaders.
The KKK do not burn crosses people just think that it is a cross when in all actuality it nothing more than lower case t. The lower case t stands for time to leave and they burn it on african-american families to let them know that they are not wanted in that town or area, it also serves as a warning that if they dont leave things will get worse

DO NOT LISTEN TO THE
ABOVE ANSWER BECAUSE IT IS NOT RIGHT!
Actually the answer above is incorrect. That was supposed to be a joke on the classic comedy TV Series "Family Guy"
The cross was to call in clans or to tell clan members to come which was invented by the Scottish Practice. The main difference was the burned X and not crosses.
The original KKK did not burn crosses from their original reign in the late 1800's but in the 1900's they started burning them after the current leader read a popular growing Scottish poet.
The KKK of the present and during slavery was used to warn the black people that if they didn't leave they would feel vengeance. So in reality, They used it to silent and scare their oppressor.
THE ANSWER ABOVE IS PARTLY CORRECT!
