Lemonade

Lemonade is a lemon-flavored drink typically made with lemons, water and sugar. The classic lemonade is made using fresh lemon juice. This is typically served as a refreshing beverage in summer. Other types of lemonade include reconstituted which is made using commercially preserved juice, a powdered mix and a "slush" made with shaved ice, lemon juice and sugar. Lemonade is often filtered clear and carbonated as a fizzy soda. Variations of this popular drink include "pink lemonade" and "cloudy lemonade"

Do lemonade stands really work?

Yes they work...

In short, yes they really work if they have people willing to run them.

The real question is who is running them and why. If its kids running them, this can be a very useful tool to teach them about things that they would normally not be interested in such as the stock market and how economics works.

Lemonade stands also can serve as a building block towards other business ventures. If a kid learns how to detail a car right, they can can offer a car wash- lemonade stand mix. Therefore diversifying the clientele. And if they offer snacks as well as other cold beverages along with their lemonade, then they are sure to make money.

The guidance part needs to be present from beginning to end. Kids may not understand money further than you need it to buy stuff. To educate kids about the true value of money, you have to demonstrate to them how to earn it and how to invest it.

If you show the kids how to buy and trade stocks, they will be millionaires someday. This is almost a fact. Show them how the stock market really works and they will make it work for themselves also.

Another start up for kids older than 11 is landscaping. If a bunch of kids get together for a business start up like that, and incorporate the car wash, and lemonade stand with treats, they will all be walking away with business skills that will make them young Donald Trumps in no time.

Perhaps it will get them so interested in the stock market that they will learn how to orchestrate ponzi schemes and insider trading. That is if they become interested in the economic and business world.

Why does lemonade go flat?

The fizz in soft drinks is carbonation. That is, the addition of CO2 (carbon dioxide) gas. Carbon dioxide readily disperses in an oxygen atmosphere (ours) so simply leaving a soft drink open will cause it to "go flat." However, some containers, usually plastic ones, have small amounts of porous material that allow for a slight leakage of pressure. Many beverage container companies call this "breathing." When the containers age they breathe out the CO2 and breathe in oxygen. Flat again. One of the things that accelerates this breathing is temperature. If you take a beverage container and move it from cold to warm and back again, several times, the change in temperature forces pressure changes that will dramatically accelerate breathing. Flat, flat, flat. Incidentally, there are CO2 dispensers out there (called home fountains) that will add the fizz back to flat drinks or even carbonate anything you want. Check it out.
