Varnish remover usually contains acetone, a three-carbon ketone. Ketones are generally quite volitile, meaning they evaporate into the air quicky (this is also the reason nail varnish remover is so flammable).

It does two things: it evens out your skin tone, and it makes the rest of your makeup stay on better.

Foundation is the base of your makeup. If not applied well, it could ruin your overall look. Use a damp sponge for a smoother application.

(That's a very good point, Dagny; if your foundation is not applied well you won't look good regardless of what you use on top of it or how well you apply it.

There are four good foundation application tools. Your fingers are not one of them.

First is the latex sponge wedge. These you use dry because they seem to be waterproof. I did a test with these once. I put a sponge wedge in a jar of water and left it there overnight, then put foundation on half of someone's face. Then I used a dry sponge to do the other half of her face. There wasn't any difference between the two sides. Latex sponge wedges are far better than your fingers, and they work pretty well, but there are better things to use. These are single-use sponges--they're so inexpensive you can afford to throw them away after one makeup application.

Next is the polyurethane sponge. These will absorb water, so you use them wet--dip them in warm water, pull them out and wring them out until nothing more comes out. Once you apply your makeup with the sponge, wash it in soapy water and reuse it. These are really nice, and I think they'll be the first choice in a few years--right now they're not because they're a little hard to find.

The natural sponge is better than the polyurethane sponge. These are also used wet. They've got smaller pores than polyurethane sponges do so they do a better job. They're getting harder to find because the sponge beds in the Mediterranean where these are harvested are nearly fished-out. A natural sponge is a piece of a marine animal, so vegans shouldn't use these.

Finally, there is the foundation brush. These are getting very popular for two reasons: they're reusable, and you need a LOT less foundation when you use one. A decent foundation brush will cost you $7 to $10; a pro-grade one from MAC is $34. Or you can do what the really cool kids do and go to an art-supply store; a 1" mop brush or flat brush would be perfect for foundation. (Don't blame me; they're really called mop brushes.)

If you want to do a full-face makeup job, the first thing you apply is the Foundation.

You can get foundation in liquid or powder:pressed or loose. If you have a liquid foundation, use your hands or a makeup sponge to spread evenly over face. For a powder, pressed or loose, use a brush or powder puff to even skin tone.

Next, if you have blemishes or redness, apply concealer to areas that are uneven in skin tone or dark spots.

If you have pimples or blemishes, apply the concealer in circular motions ontop of them to even the tone and hide the bumps. Even if you don't have blemishes, apply concealer underneath the eye to even out the blueness and bags that are there.

After, apply your blush/bronzer using a blush brush onto the apples of your cheeks.

Then do your eyes as sparkly and pretty as you like!

first step in eyes is primer, and if you don't have that, then a light concealer covering the eye is good. Then you apply your eyeshadow, then liner, then LAST you do your mascara.

Then you can line your lips(totally optional) and apply your lip colour.

However, it takes a good deal of pressure and rubbing, and about 2 minutes to remove it. Plus it leaves your skin feeling dehydrated, which can cause your nails to break or split.

I have brown eyes and I've discovered a number of different colors that compliment brown eyes and make them pop. I've found that a light pink (of course blended with other shades of pink and a little brown) looks really pretty and compliments the brown eyes. Also, the Naked Smoky palette by Urban Decay. All of the colors in there look really nice on brown eyes.

You probably want most of the attention to be on your dress, so keep the makeup stunning yet simple. Try black eyeliner and lots of mascara to make your eyes pop without distracting from the dress's pretty lavender color. Put emphasis on your eyes with either a simple smoky eye or the eyeliner-mascara combo, but don't use color on your eyes other than black. Good luck!

They all work great, cover great, and they do what they say they will do.

Some will heal your blemishes while concealing them, some will moisturize your skin while concealing imperfections and there are even some made especially for dark circles. This is probably my favorite line of concealers.

There are a wide variety of cosmetics here. They have skincare for all types of skin, both age-based (ie: 20's, 30's, 40's, etc.), and for specific skin problems, such as acne. They also have a wide variety of make-up in innumerable hues. Besides that, there is a great selection of perfumes for both man and woman.

It really depends on the situation, for example if you are at a dance or something you should leave your hair down because its more sexy and makes you look more lively. But if your in Gym, where it up because you will sweat and your hair will cause acne and irritation on your neck and face. But for casual days in my opinion you should switch it up everyday,, what I do is I look up nice images of hairstyles on the Internet and draw them, then everyday you can change your hair so you aren't just doing the usual old hairstyle. And if you get acne when you are alone, or with family wear your hair up it helps get rid of it!

12 year olds can wear make up, but should not wear too much. You might want to try lip gloss and noncomedogenic (non-pore clogging) concealer to cover up some blemishes. Don't use cakey makeup that will clog your pores because you don't want to cause any breakouts.

Lolli92 ~ Completely agree (: I am a 12 year old girl and I have pretty much every type of makeup but I do not use foundation or concealer. And ALWAYS remove makeup...do NOT cake it on...it looks stupid on our age. Also, if you're going to wear it, learn how to apply it. No dolloping any old thing on your face...you have to learn how to use it. Be careful with the appropiateness (?) of the makeup. Don't load it on for a family BBQ - save it for the parties. ~ Lolli92

A 9 year old COULD wear makeup but doesnt really need to.

I suggest if you are 9 and want to start wearing makeup to only wear it when you go out or on a special occasion. Maybe on the weekends.

Start with just a light pink blush and a lipgloss.

Also you could get away with a light shimmery eyeshadow.

Get an adult to check you haven't applied too much.

well, no one "should" wear makeup. but i am 13 and i wear mascara, lip gloss and occasionally eyeliner.

I think it really depends on what you're going to be doing. At thirteen you need soft, natural makeup when you go someplace like school or church, but I think you could wear either a few products or wear full makeup.

Now...if you're hanging out with your friends on a Saturday, wear as much as you want so long as it looks good on you.

There are a few places where you can get a make-over for free.

Some times in the shopping malls they do make-up for free in random stores and shops, also, local hairdressers would do it as well. Sometimes nail and beauty places do it. Maybe you could Google random make-up shops and have a look at the results. Hope I helped.

They're both good. Each line has certain products that are better--I like Rimmel's mascara better than Maybelline's (and Max Factor 2000 Calorie better than anyone else's, but I'm old) and Rimmel doesn't even HAVE a loose powder, which you need (it's great for muting color, especially when you use a little too much of it) and Maybelline has.

Such a fun question. As a female I am sure I can inspire you. If you really wish to put some effort into it, you will have to buy some hardcore female stuff, if you do not you can subtract from these suggestions. Buy/borrow a bra, if you want the large breast effect buy/borrow a C cup and above, and try to find the one with plushyness, put it on and adjust the straps and everything so it fits well but not too tight so you can fill the cups with newspapers, tissue or cotton or whatever; try to give the material some shape or conceal it well inside the bra so that it is less noticeable to know that you are wearing fake boobs. If you wish you can wear a dress, skirt or skinny jeans or regular female jeans (buy jeans that fit and do not wear them like you just went to the poo-parlour division) if you decide for a skirt/dress you can either shave you legs.. or even better wear some dark-coloured tights (you know.. if you have hairy legs) You can pick any shirt really but make sure it is for a female, even if you go for the goth/emo look it is best to find a shirt that was found in the female section, unless you want the tomboy look, your choice. Same for the shoes, except you do not have to wear high bloody heels if you do not want to break an ankle, you can go for the sneakers thing. Make-up, probably the most important part of the whole thing. If you have a beard, mustache, dead raccoon on your face, or the like, please shave it off. Then, ask a female friend (if any) or your mother (if any) to help you with the make-up, make sure to apply foundation/concealer to minimise pore size (especially for a male since pores tend to be bigger due to the whole facial hair fandango), use eyeliner, mascara (or fake eyelashes), lip-gloss if you prefer rather than lipstick, female perfume. Style your hair however you like, if you have short hair accesorise it, with a bow/ribbon or something. Voila, monsieur! Have fun I hope this helps =]
