March Madness

Right now they only have Will Coleman, a Joey Dorsey clone, supposedly, maybe a little bit better offensively but built like him. They are after Latavious Williams and Lance Stephenson, but the way things have been going for them so far, wouldn't surprise me if they don't get either. Both these guys keep putting off when they will commit and changing their minds and such, so I am thinking they may not have the grades or there are some other issues there. Taggert may go pro overseas. If this happens and the 2 guys above don't come, they will have a thin roster next season, like 7 scholarship players. Calipari really did a number on them. He tore them down a heck of a lot faster than he built them up, but there is optimism for the new coach and in a few years they will be back in the top 20 consistently.

There are 68 teams in the tournament.

It used to be 64 (actually, there were times that it was less), however a new automatic bid from the Mountain West conference forced the NCAA to make it 65. It was expanded in the 2011 tornament to 68 teams to allow some "bubble teams" to qualify, who would not of in the 65 team system.

There are no educational requirements in order to be a basketball player. As of the latest rule, players are required to go to college for one year before entering the NBA, but the courses they study do not depend upon going into the NBA or not.

Notre Dame's AUSTIN CARR scored 61 points vs. Ohio in the 1970 to set the NCAA Tournament single-game scoring record. He also scored 52 points vs. Kentucky and 45 points vs. Iowa in the 1970 Tourney.

The Memphis Tigers hold the record for the most wins in a single season. In 2008, the Tigers went 38-2 for the season. I don't believe any other Division 1 mens basketball team has done that.
