Well Max fang and Nudge get captured in chapter 58. At the school they are reunited with Angel. I guess in a senses that's when they saved her but they all escape from the school in chapter 65 when Gazzy, Iggy lead the hawks to attack the school hence freeing the rest of the flock.

For Max, her hair is darker than blonde but lighter than brunette, with red and some almost blond streaks. She also has a fourteen foot wingspan, and her wings are white, brown, and tan speckled, and she has tiny downy feathers right at the top of her shoulders. She has chocolate brown eyes. She's about five-foot-eight or so, and she is fourteen, but she does turn fifteen in the sixth book, fang.
