England have hosted two Commonwealrh Games (London 1934 and Manchesrer 2002) and have topped the medal tally six times: 1930 (69 medals), 1934 (73 medals), 1954 (67 medals), 1958 (80 medals), 1966 (80 medals) & 1986 (144 medals).

Netball doesn't have referees they have umpires. Their role is to rule on the plays in a game. If an umpire controls the game very strictly it can slow the game down which can have an impact on the players and enjoyment to spectators. A good umpire will arbitrate on rules allowing some leniency, enabling a fast and smooth game...which makes for an exciting spectacle.

You can pretty much use a Basketball court.

contact is when you touch the player with the ball, you knock the ball out of the players hands, or shove a player out of your way to get past them

Open skills include golf, netball, cricket, hocket etc. In these games the person performing the skill can be influenced by factors such as the wind or crowd.

The tallest player in international netball is Tharjini Sivalingam, the Sri Lankan goal shooter. She is 2.06 m (6 ft 9 in) tall, 10 cm taller than Romelda Aiken of Jamaica and Susan Fuhrmann of Australia.

Outside of senior international netball, Marvadeen Anderson of Jamaica is reported to be 6 ft 10 in tall. As of November 2009 Marvadeen is still in school, although she's a member of the Jamaican U16 team and plays in national competitions.

You need strength in netball to keep possession of the ball and to have the strength to throw the ball far distances with force to another member of your team. If players did not have strength, it will make it easier for the opposing team to get possession of the ball and it will be more difficult to intercept a pass.

It appears that the decision on whether an 'Sport' becomes Olympic is based on Male/Female participation along with the the Universal country participation. Netball is primarily a Female Sport with very limited Male participation. The same goes for Rugby where Males are by far the primary participants. Although Netball is played by some 70million people in some 60 countries, it's female 'exclusivity' prevents it from getting voted in I believe. JA Husband to UK 'B' Class Netball Umpire

Most games (i.e. High School and Adult) are played with a size 5 ball, but a size 4 ball is also suitable, especially for an 8 year old

Shooting in Netball is getting a goal (getting a ball in the hoop)

there are 7 positions C, WA, WD, GA. GD, GS and GK. There are each of these players from both teams and their partners are from both team C-C, WA-WD, WD,-WA, GS- GK, GK-GS, GA-GD, GD, GA

If you are short you are better off playing Centre, Wing Attack and Wing Defence. If you are quite tall than you should probably start playing, Goal Shooter, Goal Keeper, Goal Attack and Goal Defence. There are 7 positions on each team, your opponent team has 7 to. Goal Keeper plays on Goal Shooter, Centre plays on Centre, Goal Defence plays on Goal Attack and Wing Defence plays on Wing Attack and vice versa. Each player gets a certain amount of court. Goal Shooter gets the attacking third and the attacking goal circle, Goal Attack gets the centre third, the atacking third and the attacking goal circle, Wing Attack gets the centre third and the attacking third, Centre gets the centre third, the attacking third and the defending third, but not the two circles, Wing Defence gets the centre third and the defending third, Goal Defence gets the centre third, the defending third and the defending circle, Goal Keeper gets the defending third and the defending circle.

GS stands for GOAL SHOOTER, GA stands for GOAL ATTACK,

WA stands for WING ATTACK, C stands for CENTRE,

WD stands for WING DEFENCE, GD stands for GOAL DEFENCE,

GK stands for GOAL KEEPER.

There is no backboard in netball, however there is one in basketball

1) you can not hold the ball for more than 3 seconds

2) if your are holding the ball, you cannot step

3) you must stay in your positions (dont go offside)

4) no swearing at any player, coach or team member

5) gracefully abide by the umpires call

6) no snatching the ball of someone else

7) no grabbing anyone, tripping or pushing

8) no bouncing the ball and catching it again

9) Only GA and GS can shoot

10) no jewellery or long nails

The prime groups utilized during the act of shooting itself include the "rotator cuff" group - in lifting and turning the scapula, the deltoid flexors - particularly the anterior deltiod over the shoulder joint and bicep muscles, etc. These largely prepare the shooting position.

The actual throw and release in shooting includes further flexion of the shoulder, mainly via the anterior deltoid, extension at the elbow joint - especially via the triceps, and the flexors of the wrist, hand and fingers just prior to ball release.

Of course, the quadricep muscles of the upper leg drive and lift the body above them in push off: likewise the soleus, the muscles of the feet - especially plantar flexors and the calf muscles act in forcable action to raise the body off the floor
