Hi there Anemia could be the cause and you need more iron, but there are so many things that can mimick this that it is best to go in and see your doctor. Don't be afraid of some dreaded disease. People get run-down and although you may eat well you can still become anemic and your doctor can help you out with this. Good luck Marcy

You should see your health care professional/doctor to find out. This can be something serious, especially since the bleeding lasted 2 hours. It could be either a problem with high blood pressure or with your clotting factors in your blood, or it could be something much less serious like allergens in the environment irritating the tissue in your nose. Make an appointment.

Non-steroidal Anti-inflamotories (NSAIDS) such as aspirin and ibuprophen can slightly supress the effectiveness of clotting platelets in the blood. In a person with weak blood vessel walls in the nose, who is already prone to nosebleeds, NSAIDS could make the problem worse. But in the general population, this effect is negiligible.

There are many reasons why people get nose bleeds. Overly dry air in the house can be one reason for nose bleeds. However, if you have nose bleeds for several days in a row you should speak to your doctor, who can determine a cause.

I cannot say for certain because I am not a doctor. But I had been a serial sneezer for years before being diagnosed with lung cancer last August (2011). I initially consulted my doctor because I kept feeling feverish, especially in the evenings. The symptoms were like those associated with a bad cold or flu - including a persistent cough, which I put down to quite heavy smoking for nigh on forty years. So I requested a blood test which showed I had some kind of 'inflammation' in my body: 'inflammation of chronic disease' they called it. This led to an X-Ray, CT scan and PET scan which confirmed 'an abnormality' in my right lung. They did a bronchoscopy but could not find any cancer cells.

'Just dead tissue - like the rotten part in the middle of an orange,' explained the consultant.

Nevertheless, 'the team' had a meeting and decided to give me an intensive course of radiotherapy (one session per day for twenty days). No big deal per se, apart from a slight sore throat and difficulty swallowing, which began towards the end of the treatment and lasted a few weeks. Sucking strong mints was a great help. The worst part was getting to the hospital and back first thing in the mornings. I could have stayed in the hospital. But I didn't fancy that at all.

Anyhow, after the last treatment I felt as fit as a fiddle, and three months later another CT scan and X-Ray showed that the 'abnormality' had shrunk somewhat. Right now I am still feeling better than I've felt for years, but am still sneezing several times at the one go, just as I was before. I get these sneezing fits every few days. So did my poor dad, who sadly fell victim to lung cancer several years ago. But he was much older than I am now and had lots of other things wrong with him too, including diabetes. Our next door neighbour was also a serial sneezer and also died from cancer, of the prostate. He was even older than dad - in his mid-eighties.

Yet, since having my treatment I am exceedingly well and eating like a horse. Therefore, I am optimistic.

This is the extent of my experience regarding the question asked. On an academic level I do believe that persistent sneezing could be a sign of cancer. I think this because of my personal experience and the fact that the cancer I was diagnosed with was producing 'virus-like' symptoms (runny nose/fever) similar to those produced by other virus-induced illnesses, like the common cold and influenza etc. As most biology students know, all viruses have to do three things to ensure their endurance:

1. Get into (infect) a host organism;

2. Replicate within the host organism;

3. Get out of the host organism - through sneezing/diarrhoea/mucus etc. - to infect other organisms.

But my 'virus angle' re cancer is just that of a layman. For a qualified view you need to consult an expert.

They say that the secret of surviving lung cancer, or ANY cancer, is to get it diagnosed as early as possible. This means that, if you think any symptom you have could be cancer-related, you MUST see your doctor without delay. Internet advice is all very well, but there's no substitute for professional medical care. Seriously!

It could be because of dry air. If your nose gets dry, the membranes burst which causes your nose to bleed. It looks like more blood than it actually is. The clot is what should happen. Since it came out, it may bleed more until it clots again. If you are still concerned, see your doctor.

Nose bleeds from exercise can be caused from a variety of factors. It is possible that you are having an acute increase in your blood pressure. Make sure that you are not holding your breath while you exercise, which tends to increase your inter thoracic pressure. You should check your blood pressure prior to and after a bout of exercise. Other cause may be medications, or allergies which irritate your mucous membranes. If your nose bleeds continue, I would definitely consult with your family physician.

Not necessarily. Most of the time, breath odor is caused by problems in the mouth (halitosis, dental diseases, pharyngitis, etc). A couple of exceptions are diabetics with ketosis and those who drink alcohol.

That said, certain types of pneumonia, such as those caused by anaerobic bacteria, or those caused by aspiration of stomach contents can cause a foul odor. Another cause of bad breath may be that the person with pneumonia has not felt well enough to brush his/her teeth in the past few days.

See a doctor, maybe go to the hospital if you fear too much blood loss, but if you go to the ENT he will probably try to cauterize your nose. Could be your platelets are low.

Actually I just got mine a week ago and when the needle went through just one drop of blood came out. I HATTEE blood but it was no big deal the piercer cleaned it up before I even realized I was bleeding.

when my sister got hers done hers bled for a while and it bled for a couple days after and didnt stop for a while. the piercer said that hes had people with buckets of blood from nose piercings. it all depends on the person and if they have thin or thick blood and if the needle was bigger than the jewelery.

I agree with the above. When I had mine done I had a huge nose bleed but my friend had none at all. It didn't hurt more from me but I have more nose bleeds than her anyway. If you're prone to nose bleeds it'll probably bleed and it can be quite a shock but I was told not to worry cause everyone can a different reaction but the pain level is usually the same whether you bleed or not.

A nosebleed will normally stop on its own.

Applying a cold object at the top of the nose bone between eyes and slightly down would make the blood vessels contract and slow down the flow of blood. I suppose a silver key (of an unreasonable large size) could do this job.

I suppose the reason why some people might use a Silver key is due to silvers antibacterial properties. Silver is a metal of wonders in many aspects, and people without knowledge give such an object properties that are not really realistically true.

I also suppose that by the time you find a silver key and put it on your nose, the bleeding would have mostly stopped on its own anyway. Probably giving fire to the beliefs of actually helping.

Wrapping up an Ice Cube or two in a cloth, and keeping this pressed onto the upper half of your nose will work wonders too.

Even just cold tap water on a cloth does the job.

ive sufferedfrom nose bleeds since i was reaaly young, im 24 now and have realised that mine were caused from the food that i ate, especially eggs, nuts and chicken! i had to cut down quite abit. i don't get them anymore.

Strange, our 7 year old son is experiencing nose bleeds as well. Very curious, he has been taking Strattera for around a year now. Seems to have the nose bleeding in the am when he awakes or during the night when he is sleeping on his pillow the next morning he leaves a very visible trace. Really not sure if the Rx is the link or not or maybe the weather causing it, really just trying to see if anyone else might have the same link between the meds and nose bleeds? This just started a week or so ago and have not thought much about it till he woke up again this am with a bleeding nose. I would have thought that if it were dry membrains in his nostril that it would be bleeding on a more regular cycle? Have a call to the doctor now but awaiting an answer now.

It could be low humidity and the very dry air would help cause that, but this is nothing to take a chance on. Take that baby to the doctor!

No. Sorry. The only link between the two that I know of is if you have high blood pressure and the music excites you, escalating it enough that it caused a blood vessel to burst in your nasal cavity. Of course, if you listen to your music too loud, you could burst your ear drums and that could cause them to bleed but that's pretty unlikely unless they're weak from a previous condition.
