They are probably both as addictive, morphine I think is stronger, depending on the mg, though. They both are strong medicines for moderate-severe pain. Small doses of Oxycodone are usually combined with acetaminophen (generic for Tylenol), which is usually prescribed for mild-moderate conditions such as mild broken limbs, back pain, sciatica, after getting teeth pulled, etc. Whereas, morphine is normally prescribed after major surgeries, cancer, etc... more severe conditions, as well as high doses of oxycodone. So yeah, it pretty much works the same depending on the doses. I strongly suggest not to take morphine unless directed by your doctor in case of accidental overdose, or oxycodone for that matter but if you were to take anything, do not take more then 5 or 10 mgs if you've never taken it before.

Percocet is a Brand name, but the two analgesics in the medication is 10mg of oxycodone, and 350mg of acetaminophen. So the Dr. has actually increased the opiate oxycodone, but the acetaminophen is no longer being used. You may want to try adding some Tylenol, but if you are taking this medication for an extented amount of time your Dr. is trying to prevent any damage to your liver, which the acetaminophen can do if used to much. You should talk to your Dr. about the problem.

Believe it or not the Tylenol in the percocet actually increases the effects of the oxycodone, and just like me the doctor might switch you from percocet to just strait oxycodone 15mg, you will see a difference, if i were you i would take 1 regular stregth Tylenol with it 325mg, and you will see a difference.

Effectiveness will vary from person to person. It depends on the dosages, the formulation, etc. However, I can tell you that the chances of you being prescribed Demerol by mouth aren't good. Most Md.'s will not prescribe Demerol tablets. You will probably be given oxycodone as a take home med.

If you are talking about pills with only oxycodone in them, yes, 2 x 5 = 10. However, if you are talking about something like Percocet or a generic of it, they are not the same because of the acetomenophen in them. Each percocet 5 or 10 has 500 mg acetomenophen (tylenol) in it, so 2 5's have 1000 mg acetomenophen, and 1 10 mg percocet has only 500 mg acetomenophen.

I was given oxycodone after my recent breast reduction and then developed a cough/sinus infection that is increasing my pain so prescribed the azithromycin. My pharmacist did a search for me and found that there were no interactions and they could be taken together. So that's what I'm gonna do. That's right, there is no problem in taking those 2 drugs together.

no the test nowadays can tell the difference between all opiates. ie. methadone(Diskets, Dolophine, Methadose). hydrocodone(lortab,lorcet,vicoden,norco,vicoprofen). oxycodone(OxyContin,Roxicodone,Percocet,Percodan,Endocet). morphine(Avinza, Kadian, MS Contin, MSIR, Oramorph SR, Roxanol). hydromorphone(Dilaudid, Hydrostat, Palladone) and others not even worth mentioning

This depends on which pain medication you are alternating with. Alternating with another opiate (morphine, hydrocodone, codeine, etc..) will not reduce your tolerance to Percocet because opiates possess a cross-tolerance with each other. Substituting an over the counter NSAID such as ibuprofen for Percocet will slowly reduce your opiate tolerance but the dosage of NSAID needed to even come close to the pain relieving effects of Percocet would have serious detrimental effects on your liver and stomach. The best and safest way to reduce your Percocet tolerance is to slowly reduce your dosage and space dosages out.

Oxycodone has a half life of 3 - 4.5 hours. The math is easier with 4 hours. With a 4 hour half-life, after 24 hours, you would have 1.5% of the drug left in your system. After 2 days, 0.02% will be left in your system. By the 4th day it's down to about a millionth of a percent. So, in other words, after 2 days, it's effectively gone.

Now, if you're asking with regards to drug testing, that's different (and I don't mean to imply that it is, but drug testing is a common subject here), the tests usually don't test for the presence of the drug itself, but for metabolites of the drug. That is, most drugs enter your system as one chemical and exit it as different chemicals. The body breaks it down into other things, and some of those other things will hang around much longer.

I don't know what the time frame is for oxycodone, but based on similar drugs, I suspect it's testable in urine for 1-5 days, testable in the blood probably 6-12 hours, and testable in the hair for about 90 days.

To a large extent it depends on the individual. Having had the medi-quacks get me strung out on oxycodone. codeine/hydrocodone, and morphine (240mgs daily + Fentora fast dissolvers) I kicked them all and refuse to ever again do any of the "pain management" regimens/protocols.

Those who claim, and that includes neurologists, anesthesiologists, and all their med-allies, that you can't take narcotics long term on an "as needed" only basis and insist that for effective relief you must take the stuff every day are liars and more interested in personal profit of one kind or another than in your better health and well being. When they start telling you this and that and the other ask them just How The F*** do they know, and what kinds of and how long they have been addicted to opioids...

I still take morphine, and only morphine, and sometimes lots of it too, but when and only when >>>I<<< decide I need it, and have been doing so for more than four years now, and have no issues with tolerance resistance or addiction.

Based on my experience, if you want a buzz, oxycodone is it, I can't stand the stuff, but it certainly does put one in quite a dense fog. For me, even in huge doses, it proved not very effective for real pain relief.

Once again, for me, I want real pain relief (NOT a buzz) and I want it when and only when it reaches the point where I absolutely need some help dealing with it, and morphine provides me incomparable relief with the very least amount of functional debilitation.

You need to be aware that morphine for pain relief works best when it is not taken every day. Never take it more than four days in a row, And for every dose you take, take 30 hours off before your next use. So if you do take it 4 days in a row, you have to take five days in a row off. Follow this and you'll never get strung out on it. and will experience little tolerance issues after your first several months following an "as needed only" regimen. And, no matter how long you have taken morphine on an as needed basis, NEVER take more than 120mgs at a time.

Yes...it is the opiate that the drug test is looking for. The difference in those two drugs is one has acetaminophin and one has ibuprofin. They both have opiate. One has a tiny bit more, but both have it.

Percoset (oxycodone) is stronger than lorcet (hydrocodone) so you need to convince him that you need stronger medication. Tell him that you just arent getting the same pain relief as you used to get when you started taking the pills, he will probably either prescribe stronger hydrocodone pills or swith to oxycodone and prescribe Percoset.
