For most people the answer is Yes. I, myself have been on different SSRIs for nearly 8 years. My weight has absolutely skyrocketed in this time. No matter what i do it will not come off. Im a 6'0 male who is 26 now. I started the meds after high school and i weighed 160 pounds. Fast forward eight or so years and many doctors later and i now weigh 270 pounds. I eat less than 2,000 calories per day and exercise regularly. As a long time sufferer of Panic Disorder i feel obligated to STRONGLY pass on this advice:

The ONLY thing that will cure anxiety or depression problems is psychological counseling. Medications will only suppress the underlying issues and for many end up causing more harm than good. In the end if you do try medication, have an exit strategy to come off of it. SSRI's are EXTREMELY hard to come off of and withdrawal symptoms are severe (Brain Zaps are Horrible).

It's a dose that is mostly used to start. 10mg is available to use but each doc to his own. PAxil can also start at 10mg to investigate the tolerance level and increased if no change after a few weeks. It is a rule of thumb not to add more then 40mg. 50mg in extreme cases but not recommend. It also depends on what you are being medicated for, there are a few uses for this drug.

The answer would be St. John's Wort.....if you are taking a SSRI(selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) and you are no longer able to take it, you can take St. John's Wort in order to cope with your withdrawal symptoms. However, if you are actively taking an SSRI, you should not take it without consulting your physician. Studies have shown that taking 1800 mg/day of St. John's Wort is the equivalent of taking 40 mg/day paroxetine. If you are having severe enough withdrawal and you can't take anything else, you should at least try this fix.

Of course you "can" snort wellbutrin, as you can any type of pill form. However snorting wellbutrin is not only dangerous but highly addictive and not in a good way! Wellburtin is in a class of drugs called an SR (Sustained-Release). Meaning when the pill is taken as directed, with water or food, it is released throughout the day to give you the steady balance for which it is prescribed, most typically for depression. When snorted all at once you are allowing your body to take in the whole amount given to your body for the day. This can cause your body to go into shock and cause a seizures. Prison Inmate's offen refer to this drug as " wellies". They are considered recreational in prison because inmates will do anything to feel " high". However some inmates admit that snorting the wellbutrin is not for the "high", but for the similarity in the taste and smell of the pill. Some say when snorted it has the same similarities as methamphetamine minus the high. Thus the reason for snorting the pill. Inmates who are addicted to meth "speed" say sometimes just having the taste is good enough for "now".

Concomitant use of agents with serotonergic activity such as serotonin reuptake inhibitors, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, 5-HT1 receptor agonists, ergot alkaloids, lithium, St. John's wort, phenylpiperidine opioids, dextromethorphan, and tryptophan may potentiate the risk of serotonin syndrome, which is a rare but serious and potentially fatal condition thought to result from hyperstimulation of brainstem 5-HT1A and 2A receptors. Symptoms of the serotonin syndrome may include mental status changes such as irritability, altered consciousness, confusion, hallucinations, and coma; autonomic dysfunction such as tachycardia, hyperthermia, diaphoresis, shivering, blood pressure lability, and mydriasis; neuromuscular abnormalities such as hyperreflexia, myoclonus, tremor, rigidity, and ataxia; and gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal cramping, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

In general, the concomitant use of multiple serotonergic agents should be avoided if possible, or otherwise approached with caution if potential benefit is deemed to outweigh the risk. Patients should be closely monitored for symptoms of the serotonin syndrome during treatment. Particular caution is advised when increasing the dosages of these agents. The potential risk for serotonin syndrome should be considered even when administering serotonergic agents sequentially, as some agents may demonstrate a prolonged elimination half-life. For example, a 5-week washout period is recommended following use of fluoxetine before administering another serotonergic agent. If serotonin syndrome develops or is suspected during the course of therapy, all serotonergic agents should be discontinued immediately and supportive care rendered as necessary. Moderately ill patients may also benefit from the administration of a serotonin antagonist (e.g., cyproheptadine, chlorpromazine). Severe cases should be managed under consultation with a toxicologist and may require sedation, neuromuscular paralysis, intubation, and mechanical ventilation in addition to the other measures.

Most people do take the SSRI drugs in the morning. Paxil, Prozac, and Zoloft often have the side effect of making you more alert and wide-awake. People often have trouble sleeping if they take these drugs right before bed. However, it really does not matter, and if you have no troublesome side effects, you can take your Paxil whenever you wish.

I have found taking paxil and lithium together makes me feel much worse. The depression and panic attacks became much worse. I believe the paxil after 11 years of taking it stopped working and turned on me as my Bipolar 2 got worse, then taking the lithium enhanced the paxil thus compounding the issue. I am slowly getting off the paxil which is a nightmare but allowing me to avoid more extremes in the future. Paxil ahs turned out to be nasty drug with more side effects than you can imagine.

In most people that class of anti-depressants will experience a sometimes dramatic drop in libito and sex drive but as long as he is performing your chances of getting pregnant shoul not be affected due to low sperm count.
