In the book: the dad is alive, grandma is mean, Mia is blonde, Mia is in <3 with Michael not the other way around, Mia lives in NYC not SF, her bodyguards name is Lars and he has no romantic feelings toward the Grandmother.


The second movie is not even CLOSE to the second book. The movies are good though! But comparing them to the books, as in comparing the plots and characters, is not worth it! Meg Cabot is an amazing author and should be given more credit for her works! Not many people know that the Princess Diaries were books before the movies.
