Pseudoephedrine and Phenylephrine (Sudafed)

Pseudoephedrine is a stimulant medication used to treat the symptoms of the common cold, sinusitis and nasal congestion. While pseudoephedrine appears in small doses in many popular, over-the-counter decongestants, the product is heavily regulated. Pseudoephedrine's chemical structure is very similar to that of amphetamine, making it a key component in some illegal drugs. Due to the tight regulations, Phenylephrine is often sold as an over the counter substitute.

No, Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant, not an antihistamine. While antihistamines reduce the bodies ability to release histamines, decongestants cause the narrowing of the blood vessels in the nasal passages.

Can you take phenylephrine and oxymetazoline at the same time?

No.

As long as they act on the same receptors, it shouldn't be used together. Use one or another at the highest dose and see if it works well.

You can use saline water or corticoid nasal spray if you need more efficiency.

Can you take sudafed with Lexapro?

I take Lamictal, which is a mood stabilizer and or/anti seizure. I use it for bipolar disorder. Check with your pharmacist, but I think this is very benign, make sure you report any other meds you have

Can you take cetirizine and phenylephrine together?

Just to clarify, acetaminophen (paracetamol, APAP) is a painkiller, codeine is an opoid painkiller, and cetirizine is an antihistamine.

If you take them at the recommended doses, it should be fine. Remember to take in to consideration the other product warnings (eg. don't take while pregnant, if you have kidney disease etc).

However I assume you want to take Cetirizine because you are taking large or recreational doses of codeine and you are getting the itches.

In this case, it may be dangerous to take cetirizine with the codeine as they both cause depression of the central nervous system and their combined effect in a high enough dose would be enough to kill you. Even on their own they could kill you from respiratory arrest (you stop breathing).

Also be careful if you are taking high doses of the acetaminophen and codeine tablets. There is generally enough acetaminophen to kill you or at least do some serious damage, long before you will get high from the codeine. If you insist on taking a larger than recommended dose, at least look up cold water extraction and do this on the tablets first if you want to minimise your chances of harm.

Can you take Sudafed and Darvocet together?

IMPROVED ANSWER:

Yes you can but Darvocet is pretty useless as a pain reliever. It would just enhance the sedative effects of the Alprazolam (Xanax) and probably constipate you.

Can you take Sudafed and advair together?

Anytime you need to combine drugs... just call the pharmacist at any drug store! There is always one open 24/7. I've been doing it for years.

Can children take children's Sudafed and Zyrtec together?

Yes. I take both daily, usually two 240 mg Pseudoephedrine, and two 50 mg hydroxizine three times daily. Never had any sort of bad reaction. However you could consult your local Pharmacist, it couldn't hurt!

Are you ok to take ibuprofen with pseudoephedrine hydrochloride?

Those are the two ingredients found in Advil Cold and Sinus. Look up Advil Cold and Sinus and you will see how many other over the counter products have the same ingredients. Ibuprofen is for the pain and Pseudoephedrine is for your sinuses.

Can you take Sudafed non drowsy with ibuprofen?

You should not take Excedrin Migraine and Ibuprofen together, because Excedrin Migraine (and regular Excedrin Extra Strength) contains Aspirin, which is in the same NSAID category that Ibuprofen is.

Taking them together can increase the risk of damage to the stomach lining, which can cause ulcers.

It is not recommended to even take Ibuprofen with the low-dose aspirin used to prevent heart attack and stroke, because Ibuprofen can wipe out the protective quality you are taking the low-dose aspirin for.

Excedrin Tension Headache contains the Acetaminophen and Caffeine, but not the Aspirin, and this would be safe to take with Ibuprofen.
