How is the direct visual examination of the interior of the uterus and fallopian tubes is known as?

The medical term is hysterosalpingography, short form salpingogram or HSG. Contrast dye is injected into the uterus, and then the radiologist watches for "fill and spill" showing that the uterine cavity and the lumen of each fallopian tube is normal.

What is the difference between spermatogenesis and oogenesis?

  1. Spermatogenesis takes place in the testes of males, oogenesis takes place in the ovary of the females.
  2. Spermatogenesis produces small, motile spermatozoa whereas in oogenesis the ovum is spherical, not motile and is much larger with more food reserves and cytoplasm.
  3. Spermatogenesis involves a metamorphosis stage called spermiogenesis, in oogenesis there is no metamorphosis stage.
  4. In spermatogenesis, 4 gametes are produced from each meiotic division, whereas in oogenesis there is only 1 gamete produced from each division as the unequal cytokinesis leads to the formation of polar bodies.
  5. Spermatogenesis occurs in males (human males) continuously from puberty to death whereas oogenesis starts in females in the fetal period. It takes 70 days for sperm to be produced in males.
  6. In oogenesis, the development of the oocyte is arrested at prophase I of meiosis until puberty, and then stops at metaphase II of meiosis until fertilization, where the meiotic division is finally completed. In males meiosis occurs continuously
  7. The hormones in the 2 processes have different effects - in oogenesis, FSH is responsible for the choice of the primary oocyte and causes the cells of the membrana granulosa to proliferate to form the theca interna which secretes oestrogen, and the theca externa. LH in females stimulates ovulation and the maturation of the Graafian follicle. In males, on the other hand, FSH increases the activity of the Sertoli cells which are involved in spermiogenesis (the metamorphosis stage of spermatogenesis). LH in males stimulates the Leydig cells to secrete testosterone.

How many spermatids are produced in spermatogensis?

Every day about 100 million sperm are produced in each human testicle, and about 200 million sperm released per ejaculation. Unused sperm cells may be resorbed or expelled out of the body in urine. As per literature (Reijo et al. 1995) during his lifetime, a human male can produce 10xE12 to 10xE13 sperm

Is the reproductive system necessary for survival?

It is necessary for species survival as a whole.

Although reproduction generates an individual, the individual's own reproductive system is not necessary for its survival; although loss or damage to the organs may have deleterious effects beyond loss of breeding ability.

Functions of the fallopian tube?

The function of the hairs in the fallopian tubes is to help sweep the egg down towards the uterus to meet the sperm, then once fertilised to help the egg reach the uterus where it can implant to grow into a baby.

Can humans live on male semen alone?

No. Not much protein, not enough calories, too much salt.

Are the fallopian tubes attach to the ovaries yes or no?

Yes. The fallopian tubes are connected to the ovaries. The ovums (eggs) are released out of the ovaries, through the fallopian tubes and into the womb.

What is a vaginea?

a vagaina is a female sex cell which is about 3 inches tall for the women not kids

What feels like breasts?

What does the ovum or ova do?

it produces egg cell for female reproductive system

Does the embryo attaches to the fallopian tube?

no.the usual site of attachment is uterus.but some times due to ectopic pregnency embryo may attach in the wall of fallopan tube.thus is a case of abnormal pregnency and embryo do not survive in this case as the fallopian tube can not hold the embryo after a considerable time period because of size limitations.

Which system are the ovaries in females apart of?

The ovaries are part of the reproductive system, where they make eggs. They are also part of the endocrine system, in which they make hormones.

What is a female reproductive plant called?

A female reproductive plant structure is typically referred to as the "pistil." The pistil is the part of the flower that comprises the ovary, style, and stigma, and it is responsible for producing ovules, which can develop into seeds after fertilization. In flowering plants, the pistil plays a crucial role in reproduction by facilitating pollination and subsequent seed development.

What is the meaning of male reproductive organ?

In short, penis and testicles.

It depends how the phrase is used. Someone could be using the term "male reproductive organ" as a politer way of referring to the penis. The penis and testicles are the main parts of the male reproductive system.

More Information:

The testes (or testicles) create sperm cells. One epididymis is located on the back of each testis and acts as a ripening chamber for the sperm cells. From there, the sperm cells travel up the right or left vas deferens to the seminal vesicles, where they are stored and mixed with other fluid. The prostate gland and the bulbourethral gland also secrete fluids into the seminal vesicles. These additional fluids help nourish the sperm cells and make them more motile. The seminal vesicles also connect to the urethra, the tube used for carrying urine from the urinary bladder to outside the body. There is a band of muscles called a sphincter where the seminal vesicles attach to the urethra. They allow the seminal vesicles to build pressure to be able to shoot the semen out of the penis during ejaculation. Ejaculation is when the male reaches climax (orgasm) during sex and ejects semen.

From a reproductive system standpoint, the semen is intended to enter the woman's vagina, travel up through her uterus, and make its way to the fallopian tubes, where it might find an egg cell to fertilize. The fertilized egg then travels to the uterus and implants itself. Then perhaps 9 months later, the woman delivers a baby.

What is the whitish fluid which carries sperm?

The fluid that carries sperm is more commonly known as 'Semen'.

Is ovum short for ovaries?

Ovary is to egg, where Hatchery is to larva. (Starcraft Reference)

Why is it important to know the differences between the male and female reproductive system?

If you learn about a woman's menstrual cycle, you can anticipate when her mood will be worst (and go see a movie or something). It's also good to have a general knowledge of human anatomy.
