September 11 Attacks

The Bush administration raided and bombed Iraq beginning the war. The 19 men on the planes were not from Iraq, but all were Saudi Arabians.

There were 19 Saudi men who took over the planes.

There were two airliners that hit the Towers. They were full of passengers and the terrorist took over the cockpit and flew them into the buildings. As I saw it on my morning news it seemed impossible that it was real.

All 19 were from Saudi Arabia and affiliated with Al Queda.

The 9/11 hijackers took control of the airplanes by using a combination of surprise and intimidation. They boarded the planes with box cutters and other small weapons, which were not considered significant threats at the time due to security protocols. Once in the air, they overpowered the flight crews and passengers, quickly taking control of the cockpits. This coordinated effort allowed them to redirect the aircraft toward their intended targets.

There were all sorts of businesses in the Towers. The bottom floor had a subway station and various food fenders as well as an underground parking area. The top floor was an observation deck and there was a gift shop and restaurant located there. The observation deck gave a 90 degree views of New York. I was there in 97 and it was amazing to sit and look out at the city.

Once they fell only 14 people were found. One under the rubble of a stairwell and 6 trapped in stairwell B. Many jumped to their death or when the towers came down.
