What does flex mean on a longboard?

In my experience of painting skateboards some of the best type of paint to use is Glossy Spray Paint (make sure that is made for wood; it would say on the outside of the can).
Note: For best result after painting the skateboard use wood polish in order to give it that brand new board feel. Also when using spray paint, hold the can approximately 5-6 inches away from the board to prevent the paint from dripping.
