The Missions and Dates Founded were:

July 1, 1769- Mission San Diego de Alcala,

June 30, 1770- Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo,

July 14, 1771- Mission San Antonio de Padua,

September 8, 1771- Mission San Gabriel Arcangel,

September 1, 1772- Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa,

June 29, 1776- Mission San Francisco de Asis,

November 1, 1776 (the second founding)- Mission San Juan Capistrano,

January 12, 1777- Mission Santa Clara de Asis, and

March 31, 1782- Mission San Buenaventura.

They became more of a business outpost than a religious outpost. Money and valuables sent back to Spain. Also they helped Spain to enlarge it's sphere of influence around the world. The Spanish failed when they never tried to elevate the natives to full Spanish citizenship and equals. This breach kept Spain and its colonies from forming a truly united country.

They worked the cattle and sheep herds, wrangled horses and mules, tilled the ground and cared for the wheat and corn crops, and helped rebuild the mission when it was burned down after having been there for six years.

Distances vary, but the goal was to keep them one day's journey apart from each other.

From the southernmost (Mission San Diego de Alcala in San Diego) to the second-southernmost (Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside), the distance is just under 40 miles.

From there to the San Juan Capistrano Mission (Geographically Number 3 in the series) is another 32 miles.

From there to the San Gabriel Mission (Number 4) is just under 60 miles.

From there to the Mission at San Fernando (Number 5) is about 30 miles.

Well, i am a 4th grader doing a project on this mission and the fact are that the kumeyaay indians lived there, there was 5 bells, it is built in san diego, californa , Fray Junipero Serra founded the mission, It was made out of adobe and wooden framing, it was destroyed and rebuilt again, there was a church, of course, the ground was built out of pavement and bricks. the church is 174 feet long, 35 feet wide, and 29 feet high. the top of the roof had a title roof. The crops grown were oranges, foliage plants, and woody ornamentals. The animals raised there was pigs, ducks, chickens, sheeps, horses, and cattles, there was 20,000 sheep, 10,00 cattles, and 1,250 horses. sorry, i forgot the rest. There is 4 nick names. they are :Mother of the Alta California mission, Church of the desert, Mother of the missions, and Mission in the Desert.The mission started on July 16, 1769.Today, they still use San Diego Mission for weddings and other special occusions. Im sorry if i didnt write the information you wanted.

there is actually three bells at San Luis Obispo de Tolosa so yes there are bells !

One assumes you mean the California Mission station- it was founded by the Franciscan Padres (fathers) and largely staffed by these churchmen- who did much to essentially settle California- note the fact many towns are named after saints- and the Big One- yes the City of the Angels- some lost ones flapping about, unfortunately!

there are 2 roads from yuma to san Luis Arizona, if you go through Somerton it could take you lik 20-25 minutes, because of the speed limits. I f you take the road that goes around somerton it coul take you 10 - 15 minutes, depending how fast you drive. Sheers
