If Mild flattening of the cervical spinal cord with bony overgrowth at the uncovertebral joints exsists what symptoms will manifest?

These are common changes with aging, and most people with this finding have no symptoms. Talk to your health care provider for advice specific to your situation.

What organs are located in the spinal cavity region?

I've never heard it called a "spinal cavity" before, though there is in fact a cavity running down the inside of the vertebrae. The spinal cord goes in there, and there isn't really any room for anything else.

Difference between cancer cells and cells of the spinal cord?

Spinal cord cells can never reproduce if they're damaged while cancer cells replicate incredibly fast.

Is Spinal degeneration the same as spinal stenosis?

No. Spinal stenosis a condition where the spinal canal narrows and compresses the spinal cord and nerves. Spinal degeneration is a natural process that occurs as we age and it often the causeof spinal stenosis.

What will happen if the spinal cord is cut or damaged in the neck?

We wont be able to walk properly and as the nerves are joined to the spinal cord the immediate action messages will take time to reach the brain and then there will be a problem in the proper functioning of the reflex action

Layers of the spinal cord?

The spinal cord, like the brain, is surrounded by the three meninges. The dura mater extends from the foramen magnum to the sacrum and coccyx. The dura is attached to the foramen magnum and the periosteium covering the uppemost cervical vertebrae and their ligaments. Through the remainder of the vertebral canal, the dura is not attached to the vertebrae, being separated by the epidural (or peridural or extradural) space, which contains fat and the internal vertebral venous plexus. In caudal analgesia, an anesthetic solution injected into the sacral hiatus diffuses upward into the epidural space. This may be used in surgical procedures relating to pelvic and perineal regions. Extensions of dura (dural sheaths) surround the nerve roots and spinal ganglia, and continue into the connective tissue coverings (epineurium) of the spinal nerves. The arachnoid invests the spinal cord loosely. Continuous with the cerebral arachnoid above, it traverses the foramen magnum and descends to about the S2 vertebral level. The subarachnoid space, which contains cerebrospinal fluid, is a wide interval between the arachnoid and pia. Because the spinal cord ends at about the level of the L2 vertebra, whereas the subarachnoid space continues to S2, access can be gained to the C.S.F. by inserting a needle between the vertebral lamina below the end of the cord, a procedure termed lumbar puncture. By this means, the pressure of C.S.F. can be measured, the fluid can be analyzed, a spinal anesthetic can be introduced, or fluid can be replaced by a contrast medium for radiography (myelography). The pia mater invests the spinal cord closely, ensheathes the anterior spinal artery (as the linea splendens), and enters the anterior median fissure. Laterally, the pia forms a discontinuous longitudinal septum, the denticulate ligament, which sends about 21 tooth-like processes laterally to fuse with the arachnoid and dura on each side. The ligament is a surgical landmark in that it is attached to the spinal cord about midway between the attachments of dorsal and ventral roots. http://www.dartmouth.edu/~humananatomy/part_7/chapter_41.html

What structures are in the spermatic cord?

Ductus Deferens, blood vessels, nerves and lymph vessels.

What causes green cerebral spinal fluid?

Pseudomonas meningitis (in vitro). It has been reported in vivo only a few times.

What is the recovery time from spinal cord stimulator implant?

I am now 10 days post surgery. Very painful first 8 days due to 2 surgical sites. Able to ambulate now and take much less pain medications. Actually went to a meal out. Each day I am so much better than the day before.

Use the ice packs! Ice worked better than the narcodics. Keep dry and clean. We know someone who developed an internal staph infection 4 week after surgery and had to have the device removed. Yikees.

I used bags filled with rice to elevate areas to keep pressure off the surgical sites. I also bought 1 inch foam in which I made holes around the incisions which I placed under my sheets. This keep the pressure off the woumd itself. A small 4 dollar investment which helped tremendously.

I am 9 days post op and the pain is bad. The ice packs are a blessing. I only sleep on my sides when I can sleep. I was told 3 months for recovery.

How many nerve pairs are generated from each section of the spinal cord and how are they named?

Humans has 31 pairs of spinal nerve. Here is the spinal nerve pair list: twelve thoracic, eight cervical, five sacral, five lumbar, and one coccygeal.

Which of these spinal deformities is correctly matched?

lordosis-"swayback" rickets-bow-legged scoliosis-lateral deviation of the spine kyphosis-"hump-backed" All are correctly matched.

What is broad left sub articular 7mm disc protrusion with marked impingement on the traversing l5 root on the left?

A broad left subarticular 7mm disc protrusion refers to a condition where the intervertebral disc has bulged outwards in the left subarticular region, measuring 7mm in size. This protrusion is causing significant pressure on the traversing L5 nerve root on the left side, which can lead to symptoms such as pain, numbness, or weakness in the lower back and legs. The marked impingement indicates that the protrusion is severely affecting the nerve, potentially requiring medical evaluation and treatment options.

What is a terumo spinal needle?

Terumo is a brand name (Terumo Medical Products). Their spinal needles are characterized by a bevelled tip for easier penetration and range in diameter from 25 gauge to 18 gauge.
