Paganism in modern times is an umbrella term for any nature based religion or set of beliefs and practises. Historically a "Pagan" was a country dweller, or one who comes from the heath. While "Witchcraft" is the craft of the wise - the practise of magick in order to maximise the natural order of things.

Superstitions have been with humankind since we first became self aware. Many of the first superstitions came from a general lack of knowledge about simple cause and effect, natural cycles, and the way nature worked.

Even today, superstitions tend to be relegated to the list of curiosities of another group of people. We rarely think of our own superstitions as unfounded or silly, but we do think that way of the superstitions of others.

I have never heard that it is bad luck to rename a horse. Horses however are intelligent animals and are able to distinguish the sound of their own name when it is used. Although it may not be unlucky, it may mean the horse is confused or unresponsive when you try to get him to do things.

The name Kasha is of greek origin and it means "pure". But I don't think it's an unlucky name. But it kind of depends on whether you're looking at it from it's japanese meaning or it's greek meaning. In japanese it means "repulsive spirits" and is also a name for a class of demon in japanese folklore that steals and eats the corpses of people who have done bad things. However it is of greek origin not japanese so from there I suppose you can decide what you think. Does origin matter more or does meaning that is entirely separate from origin matter more?
