Named in 1955, Taekwondo is the national Martial Art and sport of Korea, and is very popular worldwide. It was developed through a blend of ancient Korean fighting skills that emphasized kicking, and traditional culture, with both Chinese and Japanese influences. What type of wood is a training Bo made out of?
A bo is made out of just about any type of wood you wish. It should be fairly lightweight and not overly flexible. Bamboo is too flexible.
Why register for a black belt?
Register? I'm not sure what you are referring to. My black belt was awarded to me by an organization, after I met the requirements and tested for it. The certification is filed with the main organization. It shows that there is a legitimate organization behind my certification, and I don't just go around saying "I'm a black belt" without having actually earned it.
What prizes can you win in Tae Kwon Do?
Generally speaking, the prize awarded to tournament winners is a medal, hung around the neck from a ribbon. Trophies are also common.
